Steering Wheel Replacement Education

I have a non M-Sport steering wheel in my 2015 335xi. I was looking at replacement non M wheels so I could reuse my airbag. I have found two from Spain and England I am interested in. I asked the sellers if they set up for single stage as I had read in various searches the wiring is different. Both sellers responded the wheels will work in both options. If they are in fact wired as single stage should or can I reuse my wheel’s harness to keep it dual stage. I have tried to search on here but mostly found “coding” solutions to the single stage dual stage issues (I might just be bad at searching). Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Why not just get your wheel redone by Dallas Custom? I did that on my M235 it looks amazing.

May I ask what you paid and what was done? I was looking to cut back on downtime with spring around the corner. The wheels I was looking at are about $400.

Complete custom reupholstery. If memory serves maybe a bit more than your budget but in the ballpark, maybe $500. Big thing was it preserved heat function. If you want just alcantara wrap Coby will do you for $200.

Dallas turnaround wasn't bad. I sent my wheel so it took a bit more than core exchange but think 10 business days or thereabouts.

Great looking wheel. Price and turn around is pretty good.

They're super easy to work with will do whatever you want. Mine was made to look like the OEM E46 ZHP wheel in my father's car, but a modern take on it. Really whatever you can come up with they can do. Materials are huge improvement versus stock too.

Dual Stage Airbags have 3 connectors where Single Stage do not.

As so many counterfeit airbags, I’d hardly trust used ones in USA without proper Providence, much less one from overseas.

My intention is to reuse my airbag. I too am hesitant on any airbag from overseas so I was looking at modified versions of my wheel. I was unsure if I could replace the wheel harness if from Europe it is only set up for single stage.

The wheels I was looking at retain the heated wheel function. I just admittedly don’t know what wire goes where when looking at their pictures.
