Is BMW coding software legal?
Wanting to code a couple of my BMWs, but all of the weird download locations give me pause. I have an F30 and an E60 that I need to make VO changes to, but from what I understand INPA and the like are all "hacked" software, right? So does that mean BMW could crack down on this sort of thing?

BMW tries to crackdown with some software protection measures, but some software professionals crack the program again.
Some garages also deny the guarantee or obligingness if they find out that something has been coded. |

BMW cannot control what you do with your car. What they can do is to protect their intellectual property, the programs/software that they use, via copyright and patents. So long as you use programs/software that doesn't infringe on those protections what you do is your business and yours alone.
