Did you get any explanation as to why the engine failed and needed to be replaced?

I was told that if one installs a JB4, that is sensed and recorded so that there is no way around it (uninstalling prior to show up at dealer) and thats why people were going with the BMW PPK as to not void warranty

Agreed on the notion of no guarantee on resale. However, I think he has a strong case for a new car given how new it is. If it was at 25,000 miles, while still shitty, it would be a different story.

A lot of that is rumours. It is possible for BMW to figure out but its pretty difficult. I have never had a problem with tuned, FBO cars

you wouldn't get anywhere. so if the seat motor went bad, would you also want a brand new car? don't even waste your time trying because you won't get far and just cause a lot of additional aggravation for yourself.

Lol, I figured it wouldn't get anywhere but the frustration remains. But comparing a seat motor to the engine isn't quite the same. But yes, I would demand a new car even then lmao jk

I agree that a seat motor and an engine failure are two different things for sure. I for one would want the car replaced since the value has taken quite the hit already. Anyone who does the research before buying that car in the future will know the engine has been changed. While that might not bother some, there will be many who will not touch that car. IMHO, I think the OP could easily get the car replaced. Seems to me from reading post on here that BMW has replaced cars for much less. Bottom Line comparing a seat motor replacement to a engine replacement at 700 miles is just not even close to being a proper comparison. OP, push for total car replacement. This is in fact a catastrophic failure which is the sole blame of BMW. If you don't try you will never know and what does that cost you but some time.

I don't understand how they didn't give you a loaner? I am assuming your still making payments for the car, I would DEMAND a loaner.

Good thing your car wasn't tuned though.

And how many engines have your blown up and had them warranty after it was tuned with a JB4?

I'm laughing at what some people think they're entitled to though. Yeah, this wasn't supposed to happen and BMW and your dealer should make it right...that goes without saying. A brand new car is totally unreasonable for a one time failure. In fact, I'd credit the dealer in getting a total motor replacement authorized versus reusing any old components entirely, that is a great thing in this situation.
An engine swap at 700 miles on a new car is a bit more than a simple "one-time failure..."

thought I would update the thread:
Car hit limp the other day. On the new engine. Misfire on cylinder #2. But the good news is, b,w agreed to take the car back. My F32 435 is being built right now and should arrive in about 4-6 weeks!

order sheet for my new car if anyone is interested:

Congrats on a brand new car, and kudos to BMW for making it right.

Did you get a loaner for the 4-6 weeks?
