Brake pad recommendations
Hey so after owning my gt for about 3 weeks now I feel like the OEM pads aren't that effective? I feel like it needs more bite to it. I have akebono pads on my TL and I guess I'm still used to those still.
Any recs on non oem pads that provide better stopping power than bmw pads? Thanks! |

Just get OEM or you'll have to buy twice |

My one complaint is an occasional squeal when cold and backing out of the driveway but that could just be me and not greasing everything well enough and ill probably re-lube them in the spring. No clunks though or noises outside of that. I have the 340mm/330mm rotors front/rear on my 328 |

I just did my fronts Saturday. The dealer wanted $875. It took me 4 hours including, first time on a BMW, painting the rotors, swapping Winters for Summers and being old.
I put on Hawk street 5.0, rotors were still very meaty so left them. These are Not M sport brakes. Fairly easy job. Hardest part was getting the correct angle to access the caliper bolts with a breaker bar. Cost $125 if I would of added in the rotors, $400. I'll report back later on how the pads work. |

I put on Raybestos Element3 coated rotors. Rust free two years in. I got them from RockAuto for around $30 each. For about $40 they have an upgraded coated rotor they call Specialty-Street Performance.

I have the Akebono ceramics on my F34 and love the low dust. Braking is fine, but not 100 percent as good as stock from bite to modulation to release. However, since I'm not tracking the car, it doesn't matter.
