Query: F30 Winter Tires in Toronto

Hello everyone, I am fortunate enough to finally join the Beemer club next week when I take delivery of my 2018 330i x drive in Toronto. However, I wanted to understand a few things:

1. Does it make sense to buy winter tires from BMW (I am referring to the 17'' V-Spoke 413, ferric grey run flat available for $ 2,599). Or is it better to buy it from Kijiji or the likes. I am not sure whether you can trust tread quality.
2. Is it worth taking tire protection (where any damage to tires is covered under warranty with free replacement)
3. What is the usual cost of tires, does it help to buy the same from Canadian tire?

Thanks!!

My lease is going back shortly, I'd sell rims and tires for $450. Rims are replicas, tires are Conti TS830P runflats with 8/32" of tread.

buy blue dragon's wheels and call it a day. dealer's prices are always higher, with not much value added.

if you want to buy tires, avoid dealerships and canadian tire. go to shops like simplytire, tires23, 1010tires, etc. if for no other reason than good customer service.

I bought my 17" replicas and RF tires from costco. But if I did it again I would buy off someone here. Way cheaper

If you feel safer and more confident on a dedicated winter compound, do this - great offer.

I'm in the GTA as well and have done 4 winters with my current F30 - 2 of which were Michelin X-ice. I strongly prefer the overall performance of all-seasons in our climate over the dedicated winters. Considering our roads are usually cold, dry, and salty I felt the added noise and reduced grip on with winter tires wasn't a good trade off considering there were only a handful of days in those 2 winters where I felt they were truly advantageous.

Whatever you decide, congratulations and enjoy your new vehicle!

Thank you everyone for the great advice. I think I'd agree with motorwerkeman It would actually be just 2-3 days of actually driving in snow, else I guess the Xdrive should be good enough.

On a side note, do we have a Whatsapp group for BMW F30 or 3 series owners in GTA?

By the way, here is my ride
