My 3/15 M3 just missed the 4g hardware. Is there a workaround? For $500+ I'm not sure I want to go that for the limited functionality. I went WAAAY too far $$$ for Carplay so I already have an NBT EVO. Both the roof and trunk mounted are $5-600!! Wondering if there is some SOS claim I could use to get it out of BMW hmmmm...

As I’ve posted several times, if you have a NBT EVO already installed, it can be done for around $1400-$1500.

Only 3G voice services went away with Verizon’s 2/22 3G ConnectedDrive services shutdown.

BMW, in their communications:”Some vehicles factory-equipped with 4G telematics devices will no longer have access to services that require a voice connection, such as BMW Assist eCall and Concierge Services, but will continue to receive certain ConnectedDrive/BMW Assist services such as Advanced Real-Time Traffic Information, Remote Services and BMW Online, depending on your BMW model.”

Verizon 3G service still on til later this year. BMW uses ATT

It would seem that anything that has two way communication between the car and another device won't work, as that communication takes place between an external cellphone, your own in the case of the BMW app, and the 3G module in the car.

This may be elsewhere in the 15 pages of this thread but you can email "CD Support <customercare@bmwassist.com>" with your vin number and they will tell you if you are eligible for upgrade. My 2015 is not .

Well, it's official. AT&T hasn't shut down HSPA in my area yet (they will soon) but looks like BMW has manually pulled the plug on the app for 3G equipped vehicles (could not send request to vehicle error). Was working until yesterday, manually connected to HSPA on my phone and used internet to verify AT&T hasn't shut HSPA down in my area yet.

What I most miss a month after shutdown is the weather/time on the split view. Can’t find anything else that seems to really fit in, in splitview.
It was the thing I liked most, though rtti was occasionally useful.

Question: How many of you actually used the connected drive feature concierge and all?

With all the mods and coding we have on our car. Really going back to dealer for them to mess it up.

Maybe the SOS is kinda worth it. But I supplement that with AAA and Google assistant is more helpful than concierge.

I only use RTTI and send locations from my phone to the car, which I find very convenient. All still working here

After my complimentary 4yr subscription ran out, I only subscribed to BMW Online & RTTI. I enjoyed the Connected Drive (being able to lock/unlock the car, location & status and the enhanced Pandora), but couldn't justify the price tag of those options. But I did enjoy being able to send trip destinations to the car and the RTTI. I didn't always trust the Navigation Route, but at least the Traffic Updates were decent and the Nav would at least always let me know where I was.

Now that the whole thing is disconnected, I'm trying to get the update (I DID get the letter) but as I've said in other places, finding a local dealership who will do the update for me is a whole other issue...

Send locations to the car from the app is something I do miss. I tried an experiment where I used Google Maps to save an address to my cell phone book then told the car to look for the address in the entry. It did not work because the saved format in the address book was not correct for the car
