It was also called the "Elite" to distinguish it from the Dinan "Sport".

Here's my 2016 340ix before and after dyno (done a month apart). The baseline run was done with a BMS filter and second run was with the Dinantronics Elite and BMS filter. Both runs were performed on 93 octane gas from the same station/pump.

I think the Stage 1 is the same thing as the elite, although Dinan's web site doesn't mention "elite" anywhere. My understanding is the Stage 1 comes in two different options: MPPSK and non-MPPSK. If you add MPPSK after installing Stage 1, then you'll need a new Stage 1 since the non-MPPSK version of Stage 1 isn't compatible with MPPSK installations.

This is correct, Dinan originally marketed the Stage 1 as Dinan Elite.

Has anyone seen any direct comparisons of the Dinan Stage 1 vs JB4? I know JB4 has more tune options at the moment but was curious if the base tunes were very similar.

Brother just picked up a 340i and was debating on this Dinan tune. Some of you seem to love it, others had issues. Any follow up from people running it? Warranty issues, overall customer service? I emailed them a couple times with no response but AA is instant.

Thanks.

I'm disgruntled. I still have check engine lights from it on and off for a year now. I wouldn't purchase it.

The MPPSK is supposedly similar performance, and I have the Dinan FreeFlow exhaust to partner with the Elite tune, which ends up about the same price as the MPPSK.

I, like USA-RET, can sound like a paid spokesman for Dinan, but so far I absolutely love their products and their support. I'm just eagerly awaiting the CAI now as I can't wait to see how the car sounds with that!
What CAI are you getting? Looking for one for my M240i.

I just installed (myself) Dinan S1 on my 2018 340i xDrive and couldn't be more pleased. There's a noticeable difference in performance and the car drives the same way it did stock (very smooth). I also had Dinan products on my 2015 335i xDrive and was rally happy there as well. The install took about 25minutes, which included my OCD-ness running the wires to look as close to factory as possible. I probably could have done in it 20 minutes if I hadn't dropped the nut thingie that sits on top of the positive battery terminal under the hood. It fell under the fuse box and I needed one of those antenna tools with a magnet on it to fish it out.

I have 6200 miles on my 2017 340i, all with the Dinan Stage 1. The car has run flawlessly and is an absolute blast to drive. As far as customer service goes, I've contacted them a few times for various things like registration, questions, etc., and they've always answered me promptly. I don't have any indications that their service would be poor if I ever had a problem.

Sorry for the delay. I've been waiting for the Dinan CAI to be released. Last I checked (mid-May), the 340 test car did not move to Alabama from California with the rest of the Dinan crew, so they were waiting for it so they could finalize testing and get the parts released.

Checking dinancars.com to confirm, it seems the CAI for the M240i is going to use a very similar, if not the same, part as the 340i, so you're probably in my same boat if you want the Dinan CAI. There are other CAIs that have gotten favorable reviews, but I'm sticking with what has served me well thus far.

Sorry, my comment about the CAI for the M240i was misleading. I have also seen nothing on Dinan's website about it. I've only gotten information via email from the salesman I dealt with originally. When I said I checked the website, I meant that because I didn't see a CAI for the M240i, I assume that it's the same part or at least similar enough to the part for the 340 that it would also not be on their site, like the 340 CAI is not. Since it's the same engine, that makes sense to me, albeit some sort of physical dimension difference to accommodate a different size engine bay on the 2 series, which again is an uninformed assumption.

I'm going to email the sales guy again and I'll post whatever he tells me.

I downloaded the app and made sure I was on the "Stage 1" setting and not the "Bypass".

Kinda pissed off right now.
I totally get you. It did start making a big difference after about 100 miles, don't worry. It's more power for sure. I just got my car dyno'd again and I'm seeing about 60 lb ft and 50 hp more. The drawback is if you take it to the racetrack you might want to shut it off because it will cause the car to overheat sooner

I have had my stage 1 tune for a year now. 25k miles on it. 3 track events. And added the free flow exhaust and Mid pipe.
Installed everything myself with no issues.

No codes at all, no CEL. I love this combination! Also ordered the new CAI tonight!

Love all the Dinan upgrades so far. Hoping the intake is as good as the rest of their stuff has been.

WOW! This is so worth the money!
I see some people saying they don't feel it...but are driving in comfort mode...

I don't understand that. Put it in Sport or better yet, Sport+ and put your right foot down at 3500 rpm. Try to pull your head off the headrest and tell me that doesn't make a huge difference!

Headed out to VIR this weekend to give it a thorough run through.

But in the 24 hrs that I have had it installed, I love it!
Did you have any check engine light issues after your install?
I know its a year late...but no. never had any engine codes or lights.
been running it for iver a year now, in sport + and no issues at all.
several track weekends with it also at VIR and no overheating issues or anything. it runs awesome!

Just put my 2018 340i xDrive on the dyno today. First run was with the Dinan S1, then I put it in bypass (aka stock) mode. Picked up exactly 40 whp and 28 ft/lbs from just a tune.

My feelings are that you're probably getting the power. 10-15% power gains aren't that much compared to what you're already getting with the stock engine. If you were to remove the Stage 1 you'd probably notice it then.

Does anyone know if Dinan lets us install the stage 1 ourselves and still keep the warranty? I tried contacting Dinan several times, no reply from them.

I couldn't find any reviews on the Dinantronics Stage 1 for B58, if there's anything already out there please point me to it.

Thanks!

I have a blank brand new Dinantronics ecu for a b58 if interested. Shoot me a pm. No harness or tune, I also have a couple metal brackets for mounting it on certain vehicles. 👍🏼
