With the OEM version you have to put the wire into the square block thingy at the back of the ECU. In the non-OEM version the wires are already wired into a square block thingy that you then plug into the back of the ECU where the original square block thingy goes. You then plug the original square block thingy into the back of the new square block thingy in a male/female way and off you go!

I'm sure the square block thingy has a proper name, but I just can't think of it at the moment!

Right I've ordered the non-oem kit, having had the OEM on my old F31 I'll be able to directly compare. Hopefully arrive next week then fit at the weekend.

Mission accomplished! Bit of a tortuous path as the harness that came with the kit I found on eBay was damaged - so ended up having to buy a new retrofit harness from a trusted seller...

FEM module was missing the CAN cables, so added two repair leads to make my own CAN harness. Otherwise it was pretty simple - the usual nightmare of routing the camera cable through the rubber gaitor between the boot lid and the main body - but everything else was simple.

Added 3AG to the VO, and coded ICM, HU-NBT, REM, TRSVC - couldn't code FEM (CAFD missing) but didn't seem to need to.

Small panic when I first fired it up - grey screen - until I realised the boot has to be closed for it work!!

Now to put all of the trim clips back . . .

Finally got round to fitting today. Took my time, was about 3 hours, with partial success....

Before fixing all trim back I VO coded 3AG, then coded to HU_NBT module and REM as per the modules they quote on eBay for coding. I tested with car running putting in reverse and it was working fine. Yay!

I put all trim back and re-coded both modules with the coding overwritten by VO coding (tyre temp and m startup for NBT and lci rear lights coding for REM)

Now it doesn’t work. When I put car in reverse it comes up with the camera screen but the picture is blank. Bugger.

Emailed them to see if they can help.

So they said check the cables and it was all fine, turns out that while fitting one of the dipswitches was tripped to the wrong setting. Set it right and all working.

For a couple of hundred quid and a few hours work I'm very happy with it!

Can this coding be done in BimmerCode expert mode ? Rear camera retrofit would be very useful in my Touring but I'd need an easy way to code and also to reinstate a code backup if BMW software update the car at some point.

I don’t think so, it needs VO coding which requires Esys....

That being said if it’s possible to code ebt via BimmerCode advanced mode it may be possible if you could find out a list of everything you need to change......

Emtronika on eBay they seem to have a good rep.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Rever...72.m2749.l2649

They also sell an oem kit but it’s harder to install and double the price.

Guys I have ordered this (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/263025000011) and while waiting it arriving I was looking into how to code this?

Is there some instructions you have used? I am not sure if the non-oem will affect things?

I know this is an old thread but looking for a little help please.
I had this kit (with module 1305D) fitted to my F30 with Entry Nav and removed before changing to an F36 with NBT Evo.
I emailed Emtronika who said the kit would fit and they sell it for NBT Evo as well.
I have fitted and coded but no joy and some of the Idrive functions don't work either. If I remove the harness Idrive works fine so doesn't appear to be a coding issue. I've emailed Emtronika for dip switch settings but had no response. (they were all set to off on my F30)
Has anyone fitted with Evo and know the dip switch settings please.

Thanks

I kept all DIP switches OFF and coded with Bimmercode.

Thanks it's sorted now

To be fair Emtronika got back to me and were very helpful. For info all dip switch settings needed to be off and for NBT Evo the setting below needs to be FDL coded

HU_NBT_EVO > 3001 EXBOX > VIDEO_WATCHDOG_REARVIEW= nicht_aktiv
