Home applied paint protection

Now We have a new pcp car in the house I am looking to get some form of pain t protection on it. I have a drive way but no fancy polishers etc so would be manual labour and cloths.

What would people recommend for a technical novice? I was thinking I would use gtechniq serum light as I had on the 340 but not sure I trust myself to apply it properly without leaving ceramic streaks or what ever everywhere.

cheers

Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection (EGP) is a synthetic paint sealant which should be applied thinly to the paint and buffed off once completely dry (~45mins). Nothing wrong with going for two thin layers ( buffing off in between coats) if you wish.
Can have waxes etc applied over it for extra layering and protection, but is good for many months on its own if you wish.
A small bottle of EGP goes a very long way, probably do a car ten times over. Available at you local Halfords.

Sonax do some pretty decent protection, far superior to autoglym, last longer and decent range of top ups available.

Just remember spend as much time as possible on the prep, using stuff like Dodo Juice Lime Prime etc.

Clean your car have a decent easy to follow prep process.

OP if you follow the instructions you can't go wrong. Make sure you apply in a garage and allow the coat to cure. Don't get the coat wet for at least 24 hours. Don't apply in heat or in direct sunlight. Smears are easy to deal with during the application stage. Use an LED light if required to check and check again. Not an issue if you work in small areas and a panel at a time.

There are many options.

Gtechnique CSL followed by Exo V3
CarPro CQ110UK followed by CarPro Gliss
Sonax CC36.
Carbon Collective Oracle (made in the same factory as CSL and similar ingredients).

I have the Sonax on mine at the moment. The CSL had to be removed. I had a few fox scratches so decided to do it all again. This is a major drawback. You need a professional detailer or know your stuff and have a paint gauge to remove it else you may take off the paint!

Going off piste slightly, has anyone tried a paint protection film in all the right places, like the 3M stuff?

That does look good and the serum light and EXO I had on the 340 did work well.
Brigand I use sonax now as an after wash spray so I assume the actual protection is good stuff as well.

I don't have access to a garage so it have to be outdoors after a wash and dry.

Thanks all.

I'm only gutted I've not used it before. I did as I was told and covered quarter of a panel at a time. It was sooo easy to use.
