Wow is ltc at £40.

Last time I looked it was £2.60 and I was waiting for a dip to buy £100 worth.

This isn't going to end well haha

They could go so high but the effort to enter is so high.
Someone needs to make an app where you can just login, buy with PayPal and that's it.

Messing with local bitcoins or bittylicious is a pita.

Just looked at that but its £6.99 per month for the facility to deal with crypto!

Does the Revolut app act as a wallet too?

I am very unsure about this, but fancy having a play with £100 or so and see what happens!

Lol, yep I was wondering when it would jump.

As per post on the 7th December, the bloke behind it is now getting more involved in pushing it and developing it.

Yeap. It has pretty decent rates and commission but the spread isn’t the best. However it’s instant purchase and settlement when buying and selling so that’s a plus.

It’s limited to premium members now but planned to roll out to all over the next few weeks. Personally I wanted to get in easily so just paid up the 6.99/month. If that is too much for you maybe should avoid crypto all together. You can loose or gain 10x that in minutes!

Looks to be worth trying.

As much as there are no 'fees' the price you pay may not be competitive. Ie like buying btc via cc on bittylicioys vs using a bank transfer.

Also yes, biggest issue, is this a local wallet, or an 'online' one?

If its the latter you'll need to pay some trans fees to get crypto into private addresses.

Not keen on it using location info even when not in use but I guess you can turn it off any way.

Nice to see this kinda thing arriving though... not sure I'd trust it quite yet though for anything but tinkering.

£7 a month isn't an issue, but I'm so new to this that I'm not sure what you are 'getting' for that subscription?

Is it just the ability to purchase the crypto more freely than other methods, or is it a case of you are paying a fee to be able to securely store your investments?

You’re also getting instant bank transfers from your revolut current account to your bank. That comes in handy With revolut you don’t own your wallet. It’s from what I understand a single wallet for the whole company and you just buy your coins into that. Depends what you’re after. But for me it’s worth it as I’m planning to be in this short term only so didn’t want the hassle of setting up a Coinbase account (also Coinbase was down twice today but revolut was going strong). Downsides is that you don’t have the keys to your own coins so can’t transfer them in a different wallet or exchange. Hence you’re locked in with them. But again it depends on your needs. Also you can only trade the 3 major coins so no new alt coins which might limit your earning potential especially if you get in early on a winning one.

Again you don't have your keys, or even exclusively.

Plus you need to bank transfer or cc payment in. Can you go PayPal into coinbase?

Or 'free' transfers out to cold storage?

XRP (Ripple) is now on the way up too. Its what I chucked most of mine in to. It sat at 0.15-17p for ages but is pushing past 0.40p. Ironically the chap at work who got me in to this sold his XRP when it was at 0.23p and bought BTC just as it stabilised

Interesting to know whats driving al these fluctuations.

I've put in £1000 to play with, and I'm currently up by £500 since Friday. It's just crazy how much it's gone up by recently. Just waiting for the inevitable crash now!

I'm holding Ethereum, Dash, XRP and Litecoin.

Btw, I have no idea what I'm doing...

I'm running a virtual account at the moment in etoro before taking the plunge.

I'm not sure if it's the best platform to buy some and hold onto long term though in the hope it increases by thousands over the next 5 years or so though. ETH and/or litecoin has the potential to be worth thousands in a few years, would it not be better to buy some directly and hold it in an electronic wallet rather than use etoro for this purpose?

I'm using eToro. If you want to hold for long term, you might need to review the "Take Profit" and "Stop Loss" positions as they have max / min levels depending on the current value. You could find yourself with eToro selling when you don't want them to if there is more massive movements in the markets.

It's more a pyramid scheme.

With btc the supply is quite limited and demand is rising so the price per btc goes up, which increases demand.

The existing owners get money or they get a boost in value of their share.

BTCs value history should be a clue for many.
