LL04 to pick up today

In need of an oil change TODAY.

Going to take it to my local with oil and filter in hand.

Has a quick look this morning and the two options I can see are:

Asda - castrol magnatec c3 4L £23 (46 for 8L)

Shell Helix Ultra for ECP for just over £48 for 6L with the 35% off

Both are 5w30 c3 which I believe is LL04

I do about 18-20k per year and 12 plate 320d is almost on 80k

I see Halfords are doing 20% off Mobile but still £60 for 6L

Any suggestions of brands/offers but need to physically buy in the next hour or two.

Found out last night I have a free day. 800 miles in the red.

I ended up at asda and bought 8L of Castrol. I'll save the leftover for next time as I never get warning lights between changes.

I'm amazed. I even done the air filter myself. Will do the cabin filter next week.

Check your oil was definitely LL04 certified. Just because it's 5W30, doesn't mean it's LL04

The black box on the back of the bottle states uses:

BMW Longlife 04.

I'd always look for that as I was concerned that the magnetic was far cheaper than Castrol Edge. I guess the edge is the new technology and therefore incorporates the R&D costs.

For a 12 plate with 80k in a car I'm looking to shift when financially viable, and doing changes every 10k ish, castrol was the minimum I was prepared to use.

The usual price was £30 for 4L which worked out almost the same as the helix at £8 per litre. Asda was easily accessible compared to a trip to ecp.

Next up.... 2 front tyres
