I couldnt agree more. I have a 2011 335i xdrive performance package and a 17 340i xdrive with m performance upgrades. The 2011 handles better than the 2017 but the 2017 is faster in a straight line....In my opinion.

Honestly, the engine sound from the 340i is amazing, it obviously doesn't compare to the performance of my car but the sound was so good I honestly loved pushing it and hearing that engine.

I loved that car and if I couldn't afford an M3, the 340i would be an excellent choice, awesome car.

You really need to test drive one to understand the difference, I met a BMW corporate guy that works in some type of training position (about 6 months ago), he explained that the "modular" engines in the newer BMW lineup (340i, i8, etc.) perform differently and I can say for sure, it's a different car than the 335i.
