E85 Splash - Boost Octane Slightly?

Hey guys,

So I was curious. I have 93 octane fuel in my area so I'm running a BM3 Stage 1 93 OTS map. Would there be any negative effects to pumping 1 gallon of E85 and topping the rest of the tank off with 93? (E15)

I'm curious if this would have a positive effect on timing advance should the 93 octane fuel in my area be of "lower quality". I plan to datalog this as an experiment but hoping to hear if anyone else was doing this!

Yes it would probably clean up your logs. But if you have E85 why not just do the E30 flash?

I'm baby stepping it for a little while while I research into running E30, in my area I actually have E85 in almost every gas station.

Do most run the lucas ethanol lubrication fluid with each top off when running E30? I'm going to get some more dragy and BM3 datalogs for the stage 1 93, before and after splashing 1 gal of E85 then I'll probably see how the E30 tune compares

You don't need ethanol additives if you are only running E30. That's meant for constant straight E85 use.

Run logs to see if it's needed. If you have some timing pull then it can definitely help clean it up. If not then there's no need.

Thanks m8, I just posted in the b58 logs thread but heres my log: https://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=600b...0b4320bdf1e829

Getting some pretty good timing being pulled in the higher gears/higher rpm range on a stage 1 93 BM3 tune.

There is 93 here in Miami, but the station I got it from must not be true 93. So might be worthwhile adding one gal of E85 to see if it cleans that up a bit so I can confirm the findings.

Ah gotcha! Thanks good to know. Never dabbled in ethanol so want to make sure I don't blow anything up!

Yep I had the same issue with my 93 map. I added 1-2 gallons of e to a full tank and it helped clean it up

A little E85 is effective and once you get a taste of it, you'll probably run E30+ if it's readily available...

Hey guys, so I changed the plugs and ran 1.5 gal of E85 and topped off with 93. My 4th gear pull today seemed much cleaner! Not getting any corrections up top!

Don't ever go back to not using E85. Your first log was all over the place. This log looks good.
