340i (B58) exhaust comparisons

I am currently looking at different exhaust setups for my 2017 340i. I am preferably looking for a full catback system. I will be installing a VRSF catless downpipe and CTS intake soon, so the exhaust is next. I had my eyes on AWE, GTHaus, and the AFE systems. I have searched many videos on YT but videos usually don't compare to the real thing. I was hoping to get some opinions from people that might have heard these in person and how they compare loudness and pitch wise. Feel free to compare these to other available exhausts as well

AWE + downpipe will be mental. I love it on mine. But now in my late 20's, I'm looking for a quiet DD.

I really like my dinan mod pipe with stock muffler and catless dp. Not horribly loud when in comfort, no drone, and loud above 3k rpms.

I'm actually looking at adding a Dinan Mid Pipe. I've already added an M Performance Exhaust and while it did give it just bit more aggressive tone over the factory Sport Exhaust, it's still quiet enough to not be obnoxious. I'm thinking that adding the Mid Pipe will give it just a bit better throttle response but still not be obnoxious. And it definitely helps that it won't affect my warranty.

I think that exhaust is definitely in the "eye of the beholder". I like that my exhaust has a deep aggressive growl but is not obnoxiously loud (gunshot burbles are just annoying IMHO). Perhaps what you should do is explain what you're looking for in an exhaust note and then people can chime in on what might work. Just my two cents...

If you have a catless dp, the midpipe will make it loud. Combined with the MPE it might be too loud for you liking. I first installed my catless dp and it wasn't as loud as I was hoping. To give context, i was happy with my E90 335 with just a dp and stock exhaust. I added the mid pipe after the dp and it is almost too loud, but I've grown to like it.

Heard a lot of good things about AA and awe, my advise would be do the downpipe and see if it's to your liking. I did a mid pipe and vrsf catless dp and it was loud and very raspy and unrefined with both done. Ended up having a resonator put in because of rasp and I personally like louder cars. Hope this helps and good luck with whatever you decide to go with!

have any good sound clips, i have mpe and catless downpipe and are looking for a little more volume, debating a mid pipe or starting out removing one of the resonators, though not sure which one.

Don't have any sound clips. Id strongly suggest going to an exhaust shop and have them take out the larger stock midpipe resonator and replace with a straight pipe. Those resonators do a lot more than I expected.

Also, as crazy as it might sound, vrsf catless dp had a tinny/rasp sound in comparison to the ER catless dp. I've had both. Pretty sure it is due to the metal type/quality.
