OT: Finally sorted new car for wife

Well eventually after a weekend of test drives in the rain and sun, a decision has been made.

It will be a Peugeot 208 GTI Prestige 208 bhp, in Rijoa Red with 17 Carbon alloys (inner face black, outer silvered, actually look good bitch to clean though).

The OTR price is £20800 or so (fully loaded, nav, pano roof, metallic Rijoa Red)

New price with discount is £16215.

A £3500 trade in for the Mondeo.

Apr is 3.9% over 36 months.

Had both the Peugeot and the Fiesta ST out for good drive over the weekend.
Both drive really well, the Fiesta slightly beats the Peugeot on handling and exhaust sound.

However day to day for wife, the Peugeot has better interior (for her), Sat Nav is clearer, Fiesta small screen and fiddley.

Ford just could not get below £200 a month all in, so it turned in to a financial no brainer.

At one point, it might have turned in to a new face lift 308 GTI, however did not want to wait overly long.

Car due August, although wife might wait for new plate in September.

So that's one small petrol 'warm' 208bhp Hatch due for weekend fun

Just got to sort s detailer out now, Midland Car Car or Beau Technique.

Sounds like a decent enough deal

Do sometimes wonder how much we actually pay for badge snobbery !!!!

Let me know who you use and how good they are.

Nice one chap, and in the right colour, with a decent detail should look great.

Didn't realise they were doing a 308 one, looks fairly decent. Though having had a 306 Gti and 205 Gti, two of the best cars they ever did, I'd struggle to like modern versions with turbos and potentially suspect handling. that said 270bhp out of a 1.6 turbo, sheit!

Good deal!

I'd personally wait for the new reg - better for residuals and keeps the new car feel for a little bit longer.

Never really been a badge snob, Germany with tax free and big discounts cures you of that.

The 208 GTI has the new euro6 engine as in the 30th Edition, so ample power.

The Prestige has the technology in place of the Torsen limited slip diff, 17's instead of 18's.

Handled fine in that wet weather on Saturday.

The ST drives amazingly well, huge distance from dash to windcreen though lol.

Had a late entry from Renault with around £6800 off a Megane 265..

The Peugeot Dealer are Telford Motors in Telford funnily enough.

Really good service so far and no problems having the car for the day.

They even drove to Birmingham on Friday to pick it up for us.

The wife was bit shocked at how much fuel it used though, may have been my crap driving though . Or the lovely roads and 4k plus

For that £16k I get the following fitted as STANDARD.

208bhp.
Sat Navigation.
Heated seats.
Full blue tooth with media streaming
USB media
DAB radio
Folding mirrors, - automatically fold on open / close.
Pano roof (solar glass)
Tinted windows
Cornering lights.
Led indicators, rear lights, brake lights.
Internal LED lighting.
Parking sensors
3 year Servicing pack.

Extras were Metallic paint and centre arm rest storage (£70)

Those were actually the only options available, everything else is fitted as stock.

So yes we do pay hand over foot with someone me cars and options.

So for a second car, car for wife or even sons / daughters car, then yeah ideal.

Wow, amazing spec for so little dollahhhh!
It does amaze me how you can get some decent spec cars for very little money from non prestige brands! My sisters new Qashqui has so many gizmo's for less than half the price of mine! Granted, no 6pot engine or brakes but its a decent family wagon that I'd consider in a few years time - although my mrs says BMW or nothing... Nothing it is then

Least she has good taste, albeit expensive.

Oh and it's has Red Brembo brakes as well.

I am led to believe the engine is the one from the Mini Cooper S.

Good deal. It is a nice car. Prefer it to the Fiesta which has a horrid interior.

You mean you don't have to code it for the mirrors to fold??

No way!

Yep no coding and just simple press, no holding down the key.

Option to have lights come on without opening the car as well.

Means you can see it and unlock it when you get there.

I quite like the fact it has a pano roof, sort of sets it apart from the other hatches.

Does make you wonder especially if you want to keep chopping and changing

Was looking at the spec on fat kid 1 s soon to be focus st3 as well. Got me thinking!!!! Mind you that's been delayed as they've run out of leather seats 19 rims and tyres. Gone from sept deiivery to sept build.

We moaned about m sport brakes some time back !!!

That's worth a thread, if my wife was a car.

I met her when she was a hot red sports car, we spun around for a bit.

Then I noticed, was a bit of a coupe.

Few more years bit of a people carrier

Now it's getting on, years, I've got that red sports car back, a few bumps n scrapes, doesn't take those tight bends as well, sounds rough in the morning until it gets warmed up....

Excellent progress

I suggested the 208 to my wife as its a decent looker. It was dismissed with no particular reason...

..I tell you, these women are hard work.

Next time I'm doing the blindfold pepsi challenge when it comes to test drives, it'll be much simpler.
