First Service - Feels very responsive
Well I had my first service on Monday, other than the un-courtesy car and washing the bloody car, everything went well.
When I picked the car up I thought it felt a bit responsive, put it down to just me. However have put a few hundred miles on since Monday, it looks like I had a software update, as when I checked Idrive it said 'latest software installed' and not usual message. Been up and down A5 and ithe throttle response is brilliant, I actually found myself checking it was in comfort and not sport at one point, however sport is even better, just breath on the pedal. Let my wife drive the car last night and she noticed how lively (for a diesel) it felt. Both throttle and gear changes seem more instantaneous and don't need as much movement on the pedal. The A5 route was Tamworth to Bangor, so quite varied and couple M54, M6 toll blasts. |

Its usual, at service time, to reset adaptions for throttle [and g/box if AT] so feels spritely initially.

I'd agree, my 335d seemed to have a bit more "go" after its service.
Just hope your fuel consumption doesn't suffer with this new found performance.

Didn't you know that BMW install a running in map? They then change it at first service, to give you the full beans. It's to protect the engine while running it in.
Only kidding, I bet it makes you love your car even more than you already do. |

I understand the idea of resetting gearbox, throttle etc and if I had been gentle with car it might make a difference, however it has mainly been driven in sports and paddles.
Fuel economy lol, never think about it. I do think that they must evolve software / firmware as time passes, it's standard through life management. I am still changing (at some fucking point) to petrol. I am exceptionally impressed with the 'new' setting. |

I'd be surprised if they did a full software update as that takes time and they usually charge for that unless there is a fault and they then can update under warranty.
You can check what software you're running by exporting your profile onto a USB it will show you the version, this is different to the idrive stuff you see which is just media/telephone etc.. More likely that the adaption has been reset.

My car had it's end of warranty check last week and, as part of that, the dealer did a full update of all the systems to the latest version.
I've now got new satnav graphics and updated images in the cluster display that I've noticed and had to update esys and psdzdata as the ones I was using (and used to remove my coding changes before taking it in) couldn't code the car. |

In that time for my daily commuter transport, I have had new pads, 2 new tyres and 3 inner tubes, new studs for my pedals (flats). Majority of my driving 200 + miles return trips etc. North wales, Cambridge, Newcastle, Heathrow type of stuff. Local stuff tended to use our other car(s). |
