Had the Oxford jab Sunday afternoon (47 years old, key worker).

Felt rubbish last night, such a mega headache which paracetamol wouldn't touch. Slept a good 12 hours and really had to drag myself out of bed this morning as otherwise I felt I could have could have stayed there all day long.

Felling better today but still have a lingering sore head that feels much like a nasty hangover.

Total number who have had both doses of a vaccine in England as of yesterday is 844,098

Up 28,282 on the day before, 7-day average 28,759

1.26% of the total population

Today marks exactly 12 weeks from the start of the vaccination programme, so the number of 2nd doses should now start 'ramping up'.

My symptoms were not as bad a yours, but I told me wife that I felt like it was the one or two beer too much last night morning. I was fine but had that light but noticeable headache. By the evening of the next day I was fine.

@CajunBMW any views on the safety of the vaccine in breastfeeding women? The view of the doctors here is that it's fine, but I said I'd check with our expert

That is basically the medical response you would get here. I suppose the physicians would always be cautious on the topic. But there are no reported issues with the vaccine in pregnancy and or in breast feeding in the CDC databases or in the vaccine adverse reporting system here. Certainly there were no expected issues, but it is good to see the data supports those thoughts. As a bonus, for the baby, momma's milk does have antibodies in it to help baby fight off infections. Moms who have been infected or vaccinated have been shown to have CoV antibodies in their breast milk. Hope that helps.

NHS England has told vaccine centres that supplies of the vaccine will be 'minimal' this week.

They will double from next Wednesday and stay high for 'several weeks'.

All doses should be administered in the week they're received.

For the UK the first and second dose percentages if I am looking at right are going to be skewed a bit since the UK is favoring shots in arms and we get to second shots. For us across the pond, we are going to have a closer 1st to 2nd shot value since the approach is to get both Pfizer and Moderna 2nd shots following guidelines. Now J&J vaccines are going live now and by this weekend will be in full swing. It will be interesting to see how it goes. Our group is setting up a mass vaccination with 150 volunteers and will distribute 4000 doses in one day. Seems small but that is just our Ned schools viral center doing this. But since this vaccine is a one and done it will be a great tool in the rural and poor parts of the state where it is hard to reach folks.

Thanks for the updates. I enjoy getting the raw numbers.

Cheers,

Hi CajunBMW. Yes that's right. We've taken the approach here of getting as many first doses done as possible on the basis that giving more people very good protection is better than fewer people getting great protection. So we have a 12 week gap between doses. It was jumped on by many at first as they changed to this roll out plan quite early on in the process but thankfully the real world data coming through is vindicating the decision.

Given the fact that our first vaccine here was given on 8th December it's only now as we head into March that we'll be starting to see the second dose numbers start to pick up. And more so once we head into April etc.

I have family over in Virginia, 75 and 79, who just got their Pfizer shots last week thankfully. They get their second dose in three weeks as that's how you guys are going it there I believe.

Glad you find value in the numbers... will continue sharing best I can!

That is a really pretty part of the country. I grew up in Virginia just outside of DC. But I spent a lot of time in the mountains of Virginia at School and then on the coast of Virginia in a very pretty but remote coastal location on the Virginia Eastern Shore where we had a family house. What part of Virginia is you family living in?

Yes I went over a few years ago for the first time. Was a great trip. They live in Waynesboro. But I squeezed a lot into my trip.

Did the Skyline Drive over by the Blue Ridge mountains, went over to Richmond and stayed a night by Jamestown and Hampton, did the tour of Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, few nights out in Charlottesville, went trail riding with a guy called cowboy Bill (that was an experience!). Also spent a couple of days in Washington before flying back so did the usual tourist things there too. Arlington Cemetary, Washington Monument, White House, the museums etc etc. Needed a week off when I got home after all that

That is a lot and you did a lot of the best highlights of Virginia. I used to go past Waynesboro on my way to college. As I recall it was near Interstate 81 that I would take heading to college.

We saw Monticello right before the pandemic hit when we took my oldest to visit some of the Virginia Schools. I also wanted to show her a bit of the Virginia History I grew up learning. Living in Louisiana might kids learn a different part of US history.
