is the car actually louder than the previous models

I just traded in my 328 2011 for the 2012, when the guy drove the car to me after cleaning it at the dealership I thought I headed the engine sounded a bit louder, I kinda brushed it off but now while driving it, I noticed that the car is definitely louder on take offs and speed change, but its very quiet otherwise unless u get out and listen to it running.

Not sure if I can help you in the e9x vs f30 comparison, but the f30 definitely sounds DIFFERENT. It has that normal inline-4 with a turbo sound. I don't really mind it. But some here can't stand it.

Did you jump the gun when you traded in your '11? The reason why I ask is because you mentioned in the other thread that you didn't notice the new car was not equipped with Xenons until after you bought it.

There is a wealth of information on this forum.

isn't that a good thing? Shouldn't BMW be more performance oriented? Thats what I thought and thats what I hope. Engine sound is a good thing. I personally like hearing the engine especially on the 335 sounds so sexy.

I definitely did, I was out of there in an hour, black and black interior, and then went through the BMW website and noted that I should ve gotten the xenon instead of the heated seats or I should ve just ordered the combo I want, that just drove me crazy

Thats the 1st thing I notice between the F30 and the E90, when the salesman pull up the test drive F30 up to the curb, I said to myself WTF? The engine is pretty noisy compare to the old I6 and the direct injector ticking can be heard from a distance. Of course the second thing I notice was the steering, it doesnt feel as sporty as the E90. Other than that, the F30 is a bit nicer.

The car has a valved exhaust, so while its very quiet most of the time, it will get a little louder under hard acceleration.

There was a thread recently where someone posted db test results of the noise heard from inside the cabin of the E90, F30 and some other cars. Unfortunately I can't seem to find it.

Anyway, the F30 was shown to be MUCH quieter than the E90 when driving.

I'm not sure that my new 335 is louder than my old 135 but it definitely sounds better.

335 and 328 sounds COMPLETELY different. The OP has a 328.

First thing I noticed when I took an F30 328i for a test drive. Inside the cabin that is.
