435dx unicorn motosport develpoment
Hi All,
Im New to the site and bit plan on spending much of my time gear for info etc, I've just purchased a 2016 plate 435dx with 26k on the clock 1 owner from New in black with full m performance kit with the 20" alloys. I pick it up next Monday the (12th nov). The car is completly standard modification wise. I've come from a ford focus mk2 RS and loved every minute of the 5 years if ownership. And was modded quite heavily. But time moves on and it was time to get a nice all rounder hence the purchase of the 435. Now tuning the RS was a joy and I know quite a bit about petrol engines but this will be my first diesel. I plan on doing some small tastfull modifications but not to the excess the RS was them days are over. But from what I've read and info from others I've decided to do the following to the car and would like you guys advise on anything else I should do/chamge also what to expect performance and fuel consumption etc. The car will be used non stop it will be my work horse and weekend car. I've spend all that money it will be getting used. Around 15k a year. So the mods are as follows. Wagner intercooler, KnN panel filter, Unicorn remap, Unicorn alpina transition map, 440i exhaust (cat back) 440i m performance rear defuser insert, Asc springs. And this is pretty much it. All done by unicorn motosport who seem very helpful and knowladgable over the phone. With these modifications what power should I expect. From what I've read I will be asking to keep tourqe to 700-730 but bhp wise? Also is there anything else I can do for handling or to support the mentioned modifications. I will be leaving the egr and dpf in place. Cheers for any advice guys and girl much appriciated. Jack. |

Looks beastly. Welcome.
Beware of the diesel hate when looking for tuning support on this forum. Diesel is dead don't you know.... The ACS spings should sort the handling and ride height out with the 435 formally residing on roly poly SE springs...

Nice car and good luck with your tuning journey
The advice on the Forum has generally been to stay well away from oiled panel filters : too high a likelihood that the MAF will become contaminated. The BMW OEM paper filter is perfectly capable of flowing sufficient air for good tuning increases.

Nice motor mate, v nice. Check out GBW Tuning, glen has a great tuning reputation within bmw circles, writes his own maps, and can do the transmission too. His prices are more than fair, and he tunes to 360/370 bhp, 700/710nm and sub 4 sec 0-60, all standard with no mods.. I'm going to him soon after I have had the twin pipe conversion done. I'm similar to you, in that I came from a GLA45 amg, and before that an s3, so felt that the 435d needed a few mods. Best car I have had, and with a few mods, will be better!
Btw. Got a mate with a mk3 RS focus, and he was amazed with the 435d. He felt it was as fast as his, and he's had the mountune! He couldn't believe the pull, once you plant the pedal. Only thing I miss is the exhaust sound, but the mpg more than compensates! Enjoy |

Hi mate. I'll defiantly check them out cheers! I'm undesired wether or not to go quad tips and full vouge rear bumper but I don't want to look like I'm trying to be an M4. I just really like the look! Yh my rs was insane was running syveccs ecu, meth you name it it was 510bhp me and the man upstares nearly shook hands a few times! Only round the track of corse. Yh i test drive the mk3 rs I can honestly say I wasn't impressed to many modes and electronics but then I came from.a mechanical drivers weapon so maybe my opinion was clouded. But yh the 435dx seems to tick all the right boxes but nodding is an itch I can't help but scratch I'm afraid. |

+2 for ditching K&N, I'd also hold off on the Wagner, it's a lot of money and for road use probably doesn't make any difference. If you're going to track it regularly then yes, but how often are you going to be full throttle on road for more than a few seconds.... spend your £600 elsewhere. Like getting it ceramic coated or something
Why bother with a rear box, if you like "sportier" sounding cars, ditch the rear box and simply get a twin pipe rear, see here https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1470775

Where the difference really shows is handling and "chuckability". I certainly would not like to try and keep up in the twisties. If i had to go down to one car, the RS would need to go. |

If it's from SJames they wont be runflats, as they supply the M Performance kit including the 20 inch wheels, if your really serious about the handling then it would be a good idea to change the tyres, a good example is those suggested above by A15X
