New to tuning

Planning on getting bm3 in a month or so, and I’ve been watching videos.
I know I need to get a charge pipe. Do you guys follow the hardware recommendation for each map? Cause I notice for stage 2, it only asks you for a high flow down pipe, is that enough? Also probably a dumb question, but a catless down pipe consider as a high flow down pipe? Thanks

Stage 2 requires high flow or catless downpipe. B58s don't require an aftermarket chargepipe. Are you sure you're reading the requirements for your engine rather than the B58?

Wow thank you for informing me about the chargepipe.
I just bought the car yesterday, I thought it still has the same problem as the n55. That’s great news.

When would one need a FMIC?

On mobile so I can't see your car but I assume you're B58 and it doesn't use the n55 air to air cooler but air to water if I'm not mistaken so no real FMIC upgrade needs to be done to your benefit. Getting the DP would be the next best thing for you.

Would any of you guys suggest me to check out stage 1 first? Take it slow or just wait for downpipe and hop straight to stage 2?

What's the best way to unload the OEM pipe?

I like to feel the changes made, but with BM3, you can retune as you wish. Stock, MPPK and Stage 1 are available immediately for any stock B58. Stage 1 alone transforms the car! Stage 2 requires any higher flow downpipe (catless or catted). Stage 2+ requires a TU or better fuel pump. The other deciding factor for any tune is the quality and content of your fuel.

Pay the extra $50 access to all OTS maps, or otherwise you have to choose one additional paid map. The map pack includes maps through Stage 2+ and many fuel variants.

As for selling the original dp, keep in mind that you may want to retain it in order to resell your car.

Excellent point and certainly something to consider. I opted for a catted AA DP with a no-cell guarantee, so if the car is ever sold it will be as is - tuned.

As for buyer contacts...it's best to join the B58 enthusiast's Facebook group and let the few active buyers give you current market quotes.

You also have to make sure you have high octane fuel to get the most out of stage 2 and also to make sure your engine is running healthy with no major timing corrections.
