440i Mppsk no Upshift Fart/Burp
Hi guys. I currently have a 440i xdrive with mppsk, VRSF catless dp and stg 2 MHD. Ever since I got the car I have noticed that I dont have any upshift bang/burp/fart like i saw a lot of other, even stock, B58’s do. I saw couple other posts but nothing that could help me figure out why my car isnt making that cool sound on Upshifts under WOT. Does it have something to do with the car being EU spec? Even so, what could be the difference between my car and others? Could post MHD logs if it helps.
Ty in advance. |

Are you doing it in sport plus or with sport shifting on (shifter to the left)? I only notice it when it shifts at high rpm with at least one of those modes on.

Tried every possible driving mode. WOT shift at redline even 4-5k rpm. Changed transmission fluid, changed spark plugs. I am trying to understand what does not work properly that results in the car not making the noise. Car has 60k miles.

Did you get the car with those mods, or did you do them? I turned off the annoying bangs/pops, so previous owner might have done the same. To be clear, the bangs/pops aren't really needed and in excessive form, hard on the engine/turbo.

Did get the car with the Mppsk, I installed the downpipe. I am not talking about the pops and bangs that you can turn on/off. I am talking about the bang/burp/fart sound that happens only when you accelerate hard and upshift. Not the same thing )

But did it come with the MHD installed? When I disabled "burbles" with my BM3, it's been a lot quieter in all those situations.

Doesn't MHD have their version of the MPPSK map? Or maybe there's an MPPSK burble preset (like OEM) setting for all maps? I've never used MHD but another thread was discussing it.

I was planning on getting xHP anyway but I was trying to figure out why my car does not make the sound from factory like most b58’s do. Maybe the EU cars come with a different TCU tune? I guess I will have to get XHP soon see if that solves the ‘problem’

Tried the Mppsk map, same result. Played with the burbles settings and that changed the pops and bangs.

The valves are supposed to open above 4k rpm in comfort but always open in sport or sport plus. You will see the effect more if in comfort mode with stick to the left in auto.

Yes tried that. If that sound can be modified by xHp (a tcu tune) not MHD (ecu tune) I am thinking that the EU cars come with a different TCU tune than the US cars. I dont see other reasons

If you aren't getting burbles with MHD either, you might not get the farts with xHP if a EU car is the reason. (You'd have to see if that a EU car not having this is a legit statement though). |

My car is in the UK and it does the noise when upshifting under heavy load.
I have MPPSK, BM3 and stage 3 xHP.
