Regeneration

I purchased Bimmerlink yesterday as I already had Bimmercode. One of the parts covers re-generation, it shows the last time it occurred was 600km previous and was showing 23 grams of soot mass.

Anyone know what soot mass a regen occurs at?

Reading on other forums, about 48 grams before a regen is activated. I'm surprised as almost all my trips are around 10 miles, it's good to be able to see the status of the DPF.

Bimmerlink also allows you to trigger a regen manually and to register a new battery which I didn't know about.

I've been using Bimmercode too... would you say they're a lot different, or is mostly the DPF stuff?

It's main purpose is reading fault codes and showing live data. The fault codes seem to be from all systems not just engine codes like other readers.

Sure it does other stuff, not spent anytime using it yet though.

BMW regeneration systems are quite good, from my experience working with other German cars that require certain amount of soot build up before the regen is triggered, ( VAG threshold is 32gm) BMW's seem to regenrate any time the conditions are met.
I was keeping an eye on my 335 the other day, soot was at 21g and the egt's went up to 500degress and the soot was burned off pretty quick. It seems on short runs the regens are more often then when on the motorway. My last regen was only 220miles ago
