Yeah, sorry about that. I got crazy busy, then kinda lost focus on chasing it down. MHD sent me a stage 2 map to try out, it fixed some problems I was seeing like the throttle closure, but boost was still less then I was expecting (topped off @ 14 or so). Car feels better then stage 1, but I didn't want to post results based on seat of the pants. I bought a GFB DV+ thinking maybe I'm getting a bit of boost leak, but I haven't gotten motivated to install it yet.
I will say dealing with MHD was great, they were helpful and understanding, and refunded me for the stage 1 map when I committed to stage 2. I may get back to this soon .. I want to get some time on the dyno once the logs look like they should, but we'll see. This car is my daily, my go fast car is the e92 M3 that I track. Honestly, the F30 just isn't all that exciting or visceral, so I may just leave it alone and drive it.

So I still don’t have a warm and fuzzy about MHD Stage 1 ... but that latest dyno is pretty damn impressive. Anyone else go Stage 1 and get closer to 60-70hp gains instead of 30-40?
just got my CP was gonna flash tomorrow but wondering if I should hold out and go straight to Stage 2 ... I plan to go FMIC but probably not for a couple months. |

Go straight to stage 2. Stage 1 is pretty mild. CP is really all you need for stage 2. Monitor IATs, if you notice high intake temps, then upgrade the IC. Upgrading IC wasn't necessary for my car as it maintained good intake temps with the stock ic. The latest maps are definitely better then when I originally created this thread, peak boost is now 16-17 vs 14 before. I never took the car back to the Dyno, and have since sold it.

DP is only required for 2+.
Stage 1 can be applied to a stock car, but of course CP is basically a requirement. Stage 2 is for IC or DP upgraded. Stage 2+ is for IC and DP upgraded. I had these questions and confirmed with MHD via email. The website may not be totally updated but i believe the first page of the MHD thread is. Some people choose to deviate from these requirements, but personally i would not flash 2+ without DP and IC. Maybe without the IC if your ambient temps are never above 50F and you carefully monitor IATs. EDIT: FWIW i have a IC+CP upgraded and chose to just do stage 1 even though i could have went from stock to 2. I did this intentionally to feel the change and leave more on the table. I just ordered a fabspeed catted DP and will be going from 1 to 2+ after that install; should be another huge jump. Stage 1 is a noticable improvement over stock. |

DP is not required for S2. As for IC, like I said, I monitored my IATs for several months and determined I didn't need it (I'm in NC). MHD is simply publishing guidelines for best efficiency of the given tune. The suggested mods are not absolute requirements, just what they suggest to get the most power. You can flash 2+ on a stock car if you want, it won't break anything.
I personally would never go catless, the smell is horrendous, the noise is obnoxious, plus I want my grandchildren to be able to breathe clean air when they grow up.
