You dont need a bootmod dealer to load the map, thats a thing from the past since no ECU removal is required.

We can offer you the map with a free cable and all you need to is connect it to your OBD and load the file we send you

Well think about it. What is the cool factor to have when you are showing off your car on this platform? Since you can't get a blow off valve and if you want a open intake that throws no codes you have to spend some good bit of money. The next best thing is burbles. And especially if you come from MHD where they have sliders for the burble and stuff. Yes you can say you drive a BMW and it's fast but unless you race in front of them then what are you showing off? The burbles lol. I can't blame them for wanting it but they could be more civilized about it lol

I honestly think the AGG burbles are a bit ridiculous. The burbles on the Stage 2 tune are perfect in my opinion but to each their own.

BTW...doesn't it seem to you that the AGG burbles would be really bad on the engine. Just curious.

I don't know if it's bad I have heard that somewhere. But yeah I like the stage 2 burbles. I haven't heard the aggressive yet but I probably would like it.

It technically shouldn't damage the engine. Burbles are caused by fuel overrun, i.e. injectors still in duty phase when you let off the throttle. Timing is retarded a bit, fuel doesn't fully combust in the cylinder, but instead moreso on the way out.

The damage would really be downstream depending on exactly how much overrun there is. I.e., cat's and lambda sensors, maybe even some packing within silencers/mufflers if you have enough overrun and enough EGTs to create some flames. pew pew.

Ahh okay yeah I'm catless and deleting my mufflers. Might do a custom exhaust setup. How many times do people keep asking for sliders? Lol

Don't you think it would be at least suspect having combustion in the turbo?

Oh im sure it does if you go bananas with it, but he asked about engine :-p

totally off topic since we arent looking to do turbo rebuilds every month lol, but most race classes actually leverage overrun to keep the turbo spooling between shifts and off trottle apex lead-ins

ah....interesting!!

After some research into how ALS works I came across this post on Piston Heads regarding ALS in the rally world and it's application to road cars.

"it's totally possible, but yes, not really recommended because:

1) any catalyst will be quickly destroyed, by either the raw unburnt fuel contaminating the catalyst, or more likely the raw unburnt fuel exotherming and simply melting the substrate. On the WRC the "cat" is a 100cell metal matrix device, and it is positioned at the tailpipe, (something like 3m from the engine!) and it is just there for "show" it loses all its catalytic capabilities after a single shakedown test!!
2) turbo durability: wrc turbos use a high-temperature stainless steel alloy that maintains it's mechanical strength at up to 1150 degC, a std road turbo will be scrap at about 1000degC. Turbine inlet gas temps of 1300dgC are not unusual during als operation (short period of operation means bulk turbine material temp is lower) Also the turbo bearing system needs to be VERY robust as turbine shaft speed and crucial axial thrust loads are massively transient. To withstand this a wrc turbo is pretty specialist, typically a TR30R garret wrc turbo is approx £9k !
3) lack of engine braking during operation: depending on the throttle system and spark retard used during als operation, there can be a significant loss of engine braking, not a problem in a race/rally environment, but possibly an issue on the road
4) Exhaust system: any "packed" exhaust will literally have the stuffing blown out of it after a short period!
5) noise: as mentioned the police and your neighbors will not really appreciate the als as much as you!
6) it's quite easy to set fire to your rear bumper or even the cars underfloor plastic and underseal if the system is used and the car not allowed to cool before stopping!

Of course the "agressiveness" of the als system is tunable (by the amount of bypass air, extra fuelling and spark retard) so a more "road friendly" calibration can be used to maximise turbo shaft rpm without actually breaking too much!

Also, using a "pre-turbo" combustor (a-la scooby wrc) allows you to run an effective but much more durable als system, although thermal management is still a massive challenge at low speeds"
