F30 NBT Navigation greyed out

Hello steve@codemybimmer ,

I have a BMW F31 320d 2013 with NBT HU. I replaced NBT because the previous one was stolen. I bought a new NBT unit that has almost all functions (except for preparation for WLAN, which is not needed in my case).

I intend to buy FSC codes on fscmap website, but I have been notified that I also need to upload my car's FA to NBT. I have an OBD2 (Ethernet) cable and I know that you need to use e-sys with a token (tokenmaster). Can you help me somehow? Do you do such things remotely?

Hi everyone!

I have the same problem.My car is f10 2012.
Changed CIC from small to big screen. Both CIC modules had navigation. Right now my navigation is grey. I gave a car to programmimg specialist but he just mached my vin to new cic vin.
Can somebody help me?

Hey ya'll,

I have got a 2015 428i GC and got it with a replaced head unit. The previous owner did not activate the navigation when he replaced the unit. Now I have a greyed out navigation on my screen. I also do not have the vin number for the replaced head unit. It is a NBT screen.

Can you take a picture of the numbers on the software update screen? Depending on the firmware, we might be able to script the activation onto a USB stick and have the Nav and SXM restored for you.

If that does not work, it will need to be done over E-sys.

I'm running into an issue with the car I just purchased. Someone swapped out the screen with an android screen meant for an f48/f49. I got a new screen and backup camera from 4x4shop.ca and installed it all last night. I have the same issue as another poster here. Navigation is grayed out and Sirius isn't grayed out but doesn't show any stations or information. I know the car came stock with Professional NAV and Satellite radio. What can I do? Thanks in advance!

Yes, that won't be an issue as most NBT units are interchangeable between different models.

I have a similar issue, my HU was changed and my navigation now greyed out. I hope Steve can help me too.

I'm from the UK.

I had my NBT Head Unit replaced for my F30 as my other one would not turn on anymore (it was confirmed that it got bricked, after I followed these steps which clearly did not work: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...6&postcount=32)

I have my car's VIN and donor VIN of the Head Unit.

I got a professional coder who tried to flash the new Head Unit to my VIN but the Navigation and Voice Commands still do not work.

What must he do?

He has stated that he is doing exactly that but it still does not work?

Hello there, I have the same problem. My head unit died and I got a second hand one as it was too expensive to get it from the dealer. I have beed using the new one for 5 months, but the map is greyed out. I can only access it just after turn it on for one minute or so...

Hi dd999,

Where did you purchase this replacement head unit? If it's also from Japan, we can make this work but if it was sourced overseas, we may need to flash it so that it can run the Japan Next maps.

NBT units in China, Japan and Korea are Alpine manufactured.
