More worrying was midway thought a 2nd go of the VO coding my laptop had a funny turn which caused a shutdown! When I restarted the CAFD for the NBT was missing! Using esys 3.30 & psdzdata 4.25.40 I injected the CAFD back in and then VO coded again. Now my navigation is stuck on Starting!!!!

I should point out that Navigation and CarPlay was working before the VO Coding. Appreciate if anyone has pointers? My car is still under warranty but worried the dealer just hand me £1500 for new NBT!

Below is an extract of my FSCs from esys:

VO coding won't remove the Carplay.

You need to remove the FSC's. Did your activation come with a file to restore to factory?

Esys 3.27 is too old, you need something like 3.33 or 3.34

If you are really stuck I can probably help you.

I'm a little late to the game here, but I have a 2017 330e that I would like to install CarPlay on. From what I've heard, it should have NBT Evo. I was looking at the "Bimmer-Tech" solution, but was quickly frightened by the $400 price tag
Can someone advise me on the best way I can do this? I've seen eBay sellers offering coding, but I question their reliability. I'm willing to pay up to somewhere around $150, but the $400 that they're asking it just too much.
Thanks!

Is there any other way to check if I have the WiFi port or even check if the HU is harman/marelli without pulling HU out?

I have a 2019 F20 LCI2 with the EntryNav_2 / ENAVEVO with the 6.5" Business Nav with connected drive services etc.

Edit: I know this is for F30 but I'm pretty desperate and I imagine the systems/hardware used for these models will be the same if not similar.

Thanks

No - M is 1 version too old. Version N or newer.

Your headunit just needs updating to a newer version.

On the latest version X you can just code fullscreen carplay, it no longer requires a patch. (This is just half screen to full screen, not activation of carplay)

3 choices:
  1. take it to the main dealer and ask for a software update
  2. Pay a third party to do it
  3. do it yourself

Apple Car Play activation

I have a 2018 BMW X3 with ID6 and NBTevo_X firmware. The vehicle did not come with Apple Car Play activated and I'm looking to get it activated. Wibbles Would you be able to help and confirm what is needed and point me to what is needed? BMW dealerships have refused to help.

Yap it can be done. If u have an NBTevo unit , you will need an ENET cable.

No need for installing a wifi antenna? What would be a reliable source to enable the app? I am wondering if the install gets reset with any dealership work in future, there should be a continued support to reinstall.

Yap. You need also a wifi antenna plugged into the back of your unit. Yes you can install the fsc codes for carplay, then if u go to the dealer and it reset it u can run the program again and you will have carplay back in no time . You can do it yourself. No need for someone to connect to your laptop. Cheers

Thats wonderful. Thank you. Do you happen to know the OEM part number for the wifi antenna? I found a part number "61119308571" which the BMW dealership parts department said is not compatible with BMW X3 2018 models and is compatible with only older models before 2016 or so.

Also, any reference on what FSC codes to use for enabling car play and which program to use to install it myself? I'm new to this and any reference material guiding through the process will be super helpful.

Hi

I've got a BMW 3 series F30 LCI 330e 2018 with an ENAVEVO headunit. I'm checking whether it's got a Wifi antenna port.

How easy is it to get carplay working?

Thanks in advance
