I have dedicated snow tires/rims and it's an easy swap. However I am liking the idea of performance all season tires, where I don't have to time the exact moment to swap the winter tires in. That was always a headache in Ohio where you get October snow and then November summer ("Indian summer").

Otherwise just rationalize into one set with DWS06+ on them? I like having Potenza 001 on my 19" summer set and Pirelli Sottozeros on my 18" winter set as it's the best performance for either condition. |

I had DWS06 on my 5er and they were perfect in all seasons - not loud and rode well, definitely a tire I would recommend.
I'm currently running AS3+ and have no complaints thus far but have yet to experience them in winter. After the season, they will be swapped for MPS4S in the spring/summer. OP I think you made the right decision going for DWS06 as perfect mix between all season and performance. |

All this said, I decided to try out a set of Vredestein Quadtrac Pro's out on my 435ix. Only have about 2k miles on them so far and all in the dry. Very Quiet, decent grip, but for sure no UHP summer tires. We will see what happens in the snow, they are rated a bit better than the Conti's in the snow.

It's better to have 2 sets of dedicated winter/summer, than 1 set of all-season compromise - if your climate warrants it. Probably don't need winter tires in Florida or Texas. |

Yes summer and winter tires is better. My approach I think is the next best thing lol. All season in winter is not good enough for me. And summer performance tires are crazy expensive and last much less than the all season. Anyway, I'm very happy with my choice !

Summer tires aren't really "crazy expensive" when you consider how often you actually buy them, but again that depends on your use case and what you consider expensive. I will gladly spend $1,000 on a set of UHP summer tires that will last me 20-30k miles. That's easily 5-6 years of driving (for me, probably more now). I could get a cheaper set of reasonable tires for what, $600? So i save well under $100 per year to have significantly better performance when i want and need it.... Now if you are driving 30k miles per year and don't have high expectations or needs then sure, skip the UHP. Just putting things in perspective. Makes no sense to me to not buy the highest performing tires you can afford when tires fundamentally determine the performance of your car. |

Yeah you make sense but only if you are CERTAIN when to time the swap to winter tires. The main point I'm making is that for me, in Ohio, you can't time it. And then you find yourself either driving on a snowy day with UHP summer tires OR driving winter tires in 67 degree weather. Lol

It's why I go with the DWS06. Plus, I don't have room to store summer tires |

I just got the pilot sport AS 4s and I dig them a lot. I had dws06 prior and they're great also but I found them a little more "floaty" and soft then the Michelins but it's personal preference.

For those that swear their UHP Summer tires are the ultimate in performance, worth the cost and miles ahead of the AS counterparts, the new Vette comes stock with AS tires, not to mention track results from TIRERACK testing are almost identical.
Regarding the Vette, Summer tires couldn't handle the G forces in testing. I think i read that correctly somewhere.

Also not sure what the 2nd part means - the tires couldn't handle the g forces? Huh? I've driven on michelin pilot sport AS3+, MPSS, and PS4S, not to mention the RFT that come stock (S001). The PS4S are far better than the AS3+ for performance which is essentially the AS counterpart. The AS3+ is still a very good tire, but the difference between AS and Summer is apparent. |
