Stopping the white worm.
Got some white worm corrosion on a diamond cut wheel on my 2019 420i. Took the opportunity today, being warm to try a DIY repair. I had done a DIY repair before on the edge of the wheel which turned out well so thought I would give it a go. Not happy with the results, not a seemless blend with the diamond cut finish. 5 coats of lacquer so at least it's not going to corrode.

I'd only ever have Diomand cut if I had the car from new for a max of 2 years and even then it probably has some defects.
Happy with mine since powder-coated though. |

I suppose refurbs are in the "get what you pay for" camp. A decent one that costs should be fine if not better than new but diamond cutrting will always go eventually.
Not had it done to mine as there's only a hint of it in a couple of places so far but the powder coater chap I use for carious things including wheels has a technique which sort of recreates the diamond cut look. Basically he coats the wheels silver, then applies a darker powder over the top, carefully wipe off the darker powder from where you want the "diamond cut" then do the final baking. |

Doesn't matter, mine passed 3 years and because it was looked after by same dealer up to this day they replaced a rear wheel approx 1 year after warranty

Anyway, it's done now, so I live with it or get a diamond cut refurb. |

Good effort. If nothing else it will stop the worms from spreading until you get a pro job done on them. No one will even notice when it's covered in brake dust anyway.
But that is why I sold my 442Ms. Diamond cut looks lovely but with the mileage I do, I would be refurbishing them every 2 years. |

Hope you've got some wax or some protection over the top. Plus your other wheels if you want to try and maintain the diamond cut finish for as long as possible.
I can't stand the finish personally, and get them powder coated whenever they start to go on cars I've owned. Whatever you do, they will always eventually get water under the surface, and the 'white worm' starts to appear... |
