Don't think you need to change the windscreen.

OP - I have the projector type onto the windscreen, i think the retrofit is a small screen mounted on the dash.

Do you have a link for clarity?

Is this the BMW add-on Hud System? To do a true OEM Hud Retrofit requires a different dash for the HUD projector hardware., etc.

Got excited for a second. Seems to be more of a UK accessory. I've never seen anyone in the US with this. Factory HUD is the best and one of my prerequisites when I was shopping.

Online reviews are limited but they seem to be just so so.

That's about $570 & not even close to being the same thing as the normal HUD. OP would be better off with an OBD plug in device.

I have an OEM HUD, but I think for the money, this isn't terrible. It's obviously nothing like the OEM solution, but if you didn't get a HUD optioned from the factory, this is about as good as you're going to get without spending a prohibitively large sum of money.

That is a Peugeot-style crap. Looks cheap (which is why it is actually cheap). Wouldn't do it.
For an OEM solution (which is a real HUD, projected on the windshield) one needs to also replace the windshield itself.

This, watched a vid of it being installed and it all looked ok until it came to sticking it to the dash and wiring, looked pretty crap as it was perched on top of the dash on stilt like legs and the wire between the device and windscreen was also visible.
