question about bm3 with stock exhaust

I just recently bought a 2014 435i M-sport and the first modification I plan on doing is bm3 stage 1 93 octane, and a VRSF cp.

How much of a difference in sound will the tune make for my stock exhaust. I plan on doing an exhaust modification in the future just not quite yet. Will the difference be significant after bm3 with stock exhaust in terms of volume, burbles, etc? sorry if there is already an existing thread on here feel free to send me the link to that. Thanks

Itll sounds like stock exhaust. You want it to sound different, change parts of the exhaust.

Any recommendations for a moderate exhaust modification for under $1,000? I want to keep the stock catted downpipe for now to avoid the hassle of passing emissions.

From what I've seen, you should stay away from burble tunes with the stock downpipe as it can cause damage to the cats

Axleback is probably your only option on that budget. I would get a catted, hi-flow downpipe though. It's cheaper and has a lot of harmony with the stock resonator and stock muffler.

thanks. I'll probably go with a catted downpipe, that sounds like my best option. Ive heard of some of the catted down pipes still throwing a CEL, but I should be able to clear that code with obd2 and bootmod3 right?

Yes, but only if you buy a bootmod3 license to flash with. The license allows you to remove the CEL from the stock map using the options screen that each map has. Either way I find it's worth it for the customization.
