F34 brake discs - replacement and wear OEM
Hi All,
Its time to do the discs, have the option of OEM parts but not sure which brand people prefer. Pagid and Textar seem to be the cheap end and Brembo and ATE the better ones? The other main question is, BMW discs are 22mm when new and min 20.4mm (the 300mm diameter ones - taken from Bentley). However the OEM's seem to start at 20mm and have a minimum of 18.4mm. Logically, the same wear allowed in mm but slightly thinner on the OEM's, presumably no one has had a real issue with the difference? Also I've lost the lock nut key for the wheels, anyone hazard a guess at replacement nut key, I've read about removing them with a socket set so may go down that route.... Thanks Smithie |

No Input on the Brake discs, but in terms of the locking wheel nut, I've lost mine in the past, went to bmw and it was only around £20, and took 10 minutes, so definitely worth going to bmw

I’m a fan of Pagid for disc and pads. Good performance and last well including the protective coating.
Don’t attack your wheel nuts with a socket, you’ll only end up damaging your wheel. Try BMW or use a professional who’ll remove them at around £10 each wheel without damaging your wheels |

Pagid, Textar, Brembo and ATE are all OEM suppliers, Pagid and Textar are actually the same company, so they should all be similar quality.
You definitely need to get the same thickness as the originals, all the 300mm discs listed on Autodoc appear to be 22mm thick, loads of choice, personally I’d go for the TRW’s (another OEM supplier, they actually design and make the current MINI brake system) at £32 each: https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/...er%5B100%5D=VA |
