Well according to Tesla my car should be able to do this soon, and the view is probably better...……………...But I've been waiting since 2016 and it still hasn't happened yet

Wow - just seen the offical launch now... was tempted to replace the wifes Qashqai with the new version which i thought looks very good - especially with its hybrid powertrain.

However for the same price range i'd rather go for this Hyundai.

Although the wheels look worse than my 666m to keep clean!

Looking over those camo pics too, the wheels.

I'm not being anti BMW, and I know they're very different size cars, but...

Does this look better externally than the iX?

I don't think it's even close? BMW have gone out of their way to satisfy the marketing campaign to be controversial.

Odd.

Good luck getting anywhere near the claimed mileage mind!

I don't get the fascination with SUV's. They're just bigger, heavier and less practical versions of a motor vehicle.

Cars are getting bigger all the time but I don't see our A and B roads, streets and car parking spaces getting any bigger.......
I bought a SUV purely for the added practicality. Some give it, some don't, rather like any of the other shapes out there. In the case of mine, I'll definitely give you 'heavier' but that's due to a vast amount of
capability that I don't need.

Crossovers are slightly different and needn't have a huge weight penalty. Footprint-wise, this Hyundai looks similar to my old 4GC and vastly more practical.

Parking spaces are a funny old thing. Because you can step down from a full SUV, you don't suffer from the width penalty as much. Again vs. my old 4GC I find the width less of an issue in my Discovery. That's not to say that I'm not conscious that the person next to me will have less space, therefore I still hunt out the spaces at the end of a row or in an empty part of the car park, same as I always did.

Odd.
Better looking than the iX for me, and I'm one that doesn't mind the iX at all.

If I had the money, I'd be ordering one of these Ioniqs this morning. Sadly; I don't!

ETA - most exciting new vehicle since the Rivian for me

Really like it - agree re the Integrale, with a hint perhaps of Alfa SZ with the front end.

A genuine question... do we really need more performance in a vehicle that is designed primarily as practical and useable "A - B" transport?

Isn't the future of vehicles like the Ioniq 5, more about being 'sustainable' (but that's a whole different debate), where the EV mile is more important than the equivalent of gas guzzling performance. Extra performance (if used) costs range.

Sub 6 secs to 60, in crossover 'family' and 'pensioner' transport, is pretty good in anyone's book, isn't it?

I like, and if a model with reasonable spec' is available for less than the £40k tax threshold, I look at my next vehicle in a different light.

Just curious as to why the £40k threshold? I thought it wasn't a factor for zero emissions EV's?

Perhaps it's changed since this.

Every day is a school day... I didn't realise there were any exceptions for vehicles over £40k.

No this is still current, no road tax or luxury car tax to pay on pure EV's, still payable on Hybrid vehicles though.

I think that has gone down a bit, I'm sure it used to be £35K. Also £300 available from EST for home charger installation on top of the £350 OLEV grant.

I really like it. Both inside and out. At that price point, with most bells and whistles as standard and their 5 year warranty, it's certainly a compelling proposition if interested in the pure EV route.

Exterior is perfectly acceptable. Interior looks like a bit like it was conceived by kitchen appliance designers. That said, I'm almost certainly not the target audience

The aerodynamics need to get good EV range mean EV' SUV's starts to look more like hatchbacks!!

As long as it is not too wide for my garage this could straight to top of the list for my first EV once we have an adequate national fast charging network

I'm 99% sure the loan was £35K last year, I was looking at it when I ordered my car. Probably reduced it a bit as there is now more choice of affordable EV's and as they're selling in higher numbers the don't need to offer such a big incentive. £28K interest free is still a very good offer.

It was £35K, this website looks like it hasn't been updated, this was what was on offer last year.

Does look good, interior needs to be in a darker colour though.

now they sell battery tech at a loss or slight profit to aid adoption. In a few years they will sell the improved battery tech but only at profit. Either ways consumers =screwed.
