Their still not installed yet I'm planning on having it all installed in March or April I'll def update everyone. I don't think it will be too harsh as the factory Ohlins rear spring rates are 16k.

Picked up car Friday and def doesn't feel too stiff. Rides very nice with 14k rear springs. Installed the Megan racing upper stress bar and camber, caster, and toe bars in the rear also. Car is nicely planted now.

Yes comp and rebound all in one. I'm starting out soft so the front is set to 12 clicks from full soft and the rear is 6 clicks. I'm gonna drive it like this for awhile then prob go 16-18 clicks front and 14 clicks in the rear. It's pretty comfortable at current settings.

How easy to change the rear dampening? Is the adjustable knob on top or at the bottom?

I'm asking this cause some knob are on top... then you have to unbolt the shocks to adjust it.

Would clear up things if you have photo of the coils before the install but.

Car is great these coils are amazing for the price. Wanted Ohlins, but didn’t want to spend 2500 or more just on parts. Loving the 14k rear swift springs too.

What spring rate did you go with? 9k/14k?

How does the car feel? What do you use the car for? Any prior experiences with other coilovers on other vehicles?

Just trying to get a good feel for these.

Yes 9k ft 14k rear I use if for aggressive street and a little track. I’ve never owned any other coils, but the ride is great firm but very controlled.

FaRKle!

Any thoughts on Fortunes response to your recommended spring rates of 5k/16k?

OP, do you know if the 1" drop minimum is from the standard or M sport suspension?

I dont want to go 1" lower than the M sport I already have, so it looks like I may still have to go to Ohlins R&T if that's the case

So I just got off the phone with Jaze, one of the head engineers. He recommends the Broadway Static setup for what I am looking for. The car is going to be used mainly as a daily driver but the intentions with seeing 4-5 track days a year. He recommended I get the 500s series, with the Swift or Hypercoil spring upgrade and in 10k/16k spring rate.

The coilover kit comes with end links and also have camber plates. 4 week turnaround time.

It sounds to me like they don't know what they're doing if they offer you the choice of picking different spring rates but have no idea if those springs will actually work with their product... It'd be one thing if you had to explicitly contact them to to order "custom" rates, but they offer you the drop down menu right on the product page to add to cart!

Unless the amount of travel in their dampers is extremely limited, you should be fine on stroke length. Also, how can the shock bottom out if they specified the bump stop properly?

This would make me seriously wonder how they valve their shocks to match customers' custom rates. The comment about designing the shock (which means the shim stack and hole sizes in the piston head) for 9kg/mm rate don't give me as much confidence they really alter that at all when customers ask for different rates.

If you wanted to go stiffer to 6kg/mm (336lbs/in) in front you could too and maintain flat ride, it'll just be a lower ratio, like 5%, which might not be as smooth as a higher ratio.

The next question to ask him is why he recommends those rates, and what the design is supposed to achieve. I have my suspicions on why, but don't want to put any ideas in your head and skew your perception of what they tell you beforehand.

I'm not a technical guy so I didn't receive a technical answer. His answer was answered in a language I understood (I guess that's customer service). I will ask him in an email though and see if he can answer that in a technical way.

I do like how he responds to people on this thread: https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...auto-coilovers

His username is "Jaze".

following as I'm very interested in getting a set of the 500 series coilovers. Used the calculator made by FaRKle! (huge thanks for that!) and see why he is recommending the 5k/16k spring rates. I wonder what they will say about they dampers with these rates when you ask itsrichierich .

no, I feel like he doesn't really care to help or explain anything. I'll probably be going with Ohlin's Road and Track instead. Doesn't seem like they want the business other than selling their pre packaged setup

Ohlins are also on my radar. Discovered today that they list Xdrive on their website for part BMS MP00

Whether you intended to or not, you kind of put them though a trick question/test. The F/R frequency numbers you stated for the 5/16k setup are far too low (should be 1.73/1.98Hz). If I had received your email I would've probably asked you to check your numbers or said "Are you sure my coilovers are softer than your M-Sport suspension?" instead of outright dismissing the concern and stating that the frequencies don't apply, which is silly. You can try to maintain body control by over damping the the system, but you give up grip and comfort that way. Twin-tube/monotube has nothing to do with it.

That's just the normal R&T PN.
