I just purchased a B58 Axle Back of a 2018 340i for $500 CAD.

Please see attached image to see difference for the exhaust B58 vs N55

I’m looking to install it on my N55 435i 2016.
I noticed the B58 MPE exhaust has two valves but my N55 has only one plug for the valve on the drivers side.

I’ll take it to a shop tmrw to have it welded on, thoughts? Will it work or will the flaps remain close?

Thanks!

You will need another valve controller and the valve controller Y cable in the picture. Otherwise only one valve will work.

Does the B58 MPE physically fit the N55 midpipe then?

Garage List
Just a heads up, thats the B58 MPPSK which is different than the MPE for B58. MPPSK is the full catback with dual valves. MPE is just the muffler with no valves. 2 veryy different things.

If you're doing the full catback, look to see if aftermarket catbacks are the same for n55 and b58 f3x cars. If they are, then the MPPSK will likely fit. Like eff32fl mentioned, you'll need a second valve controller and the Y cable to split your single valve wiring harness into 2, one for each side.

Thank you! What I have now is the just the one highlighted in yellow, so it’s not full catback and I’m just welding it on my existing pipe!

What are valve controllers? I have two valves theone that are on the exhaust already, I just need to plug them in using the Y cable.

See attached on the one I plan on ordering from AliExpress

Yeah it fits, but I will need to have it cut because it’s a little too long. So I’ll have. Shop do it and weld it on!

Don’t they make MPE for N55? There is the mppk for n55 but doesn’t include an exhaust and then you purchase n55 mpe separately if you want the exhaust.

Yea there is, but I got this for a steal of a deal $500 Canadian dollars. I couldn’t pass up on that!

I'm not sure if there's some confusion in your original post. You purchased a B58 exhaust was it, stock, MPPSK or MPE? There are three types. The MPE has 0 valves, the stock has 1 valve and the MPPSK has two valves (and comes with a tune).

The yellow one you have highlighted with two valves is the MPPSK. The one under it is the MPE with 0 valves. Either way, good deal for $500 CAD and I'm a bit jealous lol.

The N55 midpipe doesn't line up perfectly with the muffler and would need a little bit of work to fit. Hanger locations are a bit off, angle of piping, etc.
It isn't a straight swap.

It’s the MPPSK, and it’s just the axle back, so doesn’t have the full catback. Going to get it to a shop today weld it on, and delete my resanantor! So it’ll be a complete straight pipe, it’s just a matter of getting the 2 valves to open / close. Since my car only has a slot for one valve!

I believe you just need the Y cable to connect to the second valve. Here's the official installation instruction.
