Very strange if your car is 15's producted ..
I bet on it that is prewired !
Maybe this is a dumb question but are you sure that you connected properly the fuse of steering wheel's paddles to the pin connector of the car ?

My car is also a 15- and no pre-wire.

Also still having the issues with the stock wheel back on, any ideas?

Amazing -- thanks! Does it matter that it is a different style steering wheel in the guide (I have the m Sport wheel)? Is it the same parts and wiring? Looks like I may need an additional wiring harness? I only have the wheel, bag, and a small 4 inch cord.

Thanks again -- appreciate the help.

You will need the paddle shifters, the steering wheel back cover, and a new wiring harness to connect the paddles.

Fantastic. Thank you BMWMPR. Do you happen to know the part number on the wiring harness? Is it the same across 320i/28i/35i? I think I have the back cover already... but if you have that number as well, that would help. I'm going to look on real oem right now to try to figure it out. Appreciate the help.

I just went on realoem.com and found the 320i parts breakdown. I believe this is the correct version for me: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=32_2169

Looks like I need part 5, the wiring harness for the wheel.

Is there an official guide for installation?

Back cover PN - 32307848268
Wiring harness PNs -
32307848337 - if your car has steering wheel heater, and/or lane departure/lane change warning
32307848335 - if your car doesn't have any of the above

I have for sale the paddles, the back cover, and the harness. If you are interested, let me know.

First off, thanks OP for putting together a DIY. I have a 2014 M Sport with the M Performance Steering Wheel type II. The issue is, the left paddle shifter is loose/has play unlike the right shifter. My F30 is still under warranty so I had the dealership inspect it. They told me that the previous owner, most likely installed the wheel/paddle shifters so they would not cover the repair/adjustment. Do any of you know if the removable process of the Type II wheel would be the same? I'd like to inspect the wheel and see if I could simply tighten the left paddle shifter as my it's driving my OCD crazy.

Anyone on here that installed the paddles and had to re-wire and run to the FEM care to comment/help?

I have a buddy who is in the process of the install (I will be installing paddles myself in a few weeks) and we are running into a snag.
Paddles are installed and car is coded but the paddles wont work.

Looks like 2 wires are required for the install but per the DIY PDF, it looks like just one wire is run from the A83*2B PIN#3 (in SW) to the A173*7B Pin#5 (In FEM) correct? So what is the second wire used for? The wire isn’t long enough to go from SW on drivers side to FEM on passenger side so do I assume 2 wires are needed to be joined to make the distance?

Any advice or better step by step instructions would be greatly appreciated!

So, if I'm reading this thread correctly, most 2014+ sport lines are pre-wired for paddle shifters???

Shit, mine is pre-wired as well apparently, 2013 335xi F30 build date 12/12. I was kind of shocked thinking what the hell?? Both pin #3 on plug A83*2B at the steering wheel and pin #5 on plug A172*7B at the FEM are occupied with a green/yellow wire. My car came with the luxury and sport pkg (not the M). Glad to see others are prewired but have no paddles, I was kind of freaked out for a bit thinking I was looking at it wrong. On to coding now!

Could somebody that has a multimeter measure the resistance of + and - paddles when they are engaged? This would really help me a lot to solve my problem. Thanks!

I changed my steering wheel to, but did not disconnect the battery.

After 2 months no problem at all.

Just don't push on start/stop and see if everything is off.

Hey all, I finally installed my new M Sport steering wheel today! Only thing is, after enabling the paddle shifters through coding, both paddles only shift up. I did the following coding after installing the wheel:

PADDLE_VERBAUT from nicht aktiv to aktiv

Does anyone know what the issue is? I'm going to assume it's a wiring issue but if anyone can confirm and how to fix it I'd appreciate it.

I am figuring out which wire goes to which paddle shifter. I also heard that the shorter one goes to the side furthest away which makes zero sense to me. You would think BMW would label them. I'll let you know once I code the paddles and figure out if they work or not. Right now I have them as the longer side hooked up to the furthest paddle.

The real question I have is the lane assist. I am now getting a lane assist malfunction and that feature no longer works. Could I have the incorrect wire harness or will this go away once I code the shifters. It's strange because everything is hooked up but I have two connections just tucked away because the paddle shifter harness replaced them. Harness part number 32-30-6-854-769 and I couldn't find another harness for lane assist just a heated feature which I don't have.

Can anyone weigh in on this?

I have the non M sport wheel
