MHD N55 PWG Stage 1 Possible Boost leak?
Hi guys,
I just installed MHD stage 1 on my N55 PWG but it seems it doesn't meet the boost target. Is this a possible boost leak? Everything looks alright, except the STFT and boost under target which leads me to believe that there is a boost leak but my question is, shouldn't WGDC be 100% because it should be closed to meet the boost when a boost leak occurs or it's not a rule of thumb? Attached the log. https://datazap.me/u/minulache/stage...og=0&data=4-16 Many thanks for the help! |

That amount of deviation does seem like a leak, yes.
WGDC doesnt read on a 0-100% scale for PWG like you would think. Even when you are "maxing" the turbo it wont read 100%. EWG is a bit different and does read more intuitively on a 0-100% scale but even for EWG it wont always shoot to 100% if you have a leak |

Tried today to smoke test but I am smoking from the inlet pipe on the turbo, so that is not the cause of the boost leak...I cannot seem to get it to pressurize so I could actually see from where it's coming from. Any ideas from where to smoke test the N55?

I describe how to pressure test in this thread, there are various places you need to cap off when you try to pressurize from the inlet foward.

Update time. I replaced all the gaskets, no more leaks detected after the turbo but still same result on Stg 1: https://datazap.me/u/minulache/log-1...og=0&data=4-16
I also put Stage 1+ for curiosity on the car, and the boost seems a bit better, but still under target and negative STFT:https://datazap.me/u/minulache/log-1-2nd Any other ideas...? |

I would say that based on the deviation that I see at other people this is normal for PWG cars. But the STFT is not really, I only saw on a few cars. I also put the logs into Virtual Dyno and the result is not that good.
Only 10whp stock vs stage 1+... View post on imgur.com |

Thank you very much. Today I changed the gaskets from the intercooler and from the turbo outlet to intercooler and now it's holding boost as it should for a PWG, so problem solved

So, I noticed that now my boost is very good after all the changes BUT my WGDC hits 100%... any idea what I should look for? I think it's clear that there is no boost leak given the boost pressure now. Maybe the pressure converter or boost solenoid?

Hi Jeremy, looked before also posting here and it is not normal. My next option is to try with a new pressure converter/boost solenoid. Other than that, I am a bit lost, not gonna lie.
Checked also the vacuum lines and they are all good. |
