I would like to see alcantara boot for automatic like the manual trans.
Anyways... the OP stated about the side button.
Does the side button stay in place when you remove the silver knob?
Or is there really something that we have to be careful of when we remove the knob and be careful not to break tabs on the side button?

Button stays put. After prying off the cover plate you'll see the single torx screw. Once unscrewed the trim is easily removed.

Glad to see the tutorial has been somewhat helpful.

I ordered mine from getbmwparts and I saved 60+ bucks with free shipping. It is genuine OEM and the packaging was on point. I placed my order on Monday the 12th and they sent it out on the 14th. It took 4 days to get here from New Jersey and I am in New Mexico.

I will be installing this tomorrow!!!

I finally got a chance to install the M Performance Carbon Fiber Selector Lever on my car and I was very disappointed in how it fit and how it did not fit. It took me no longer than 5 minutes to install this. I did not realize that there is a soft plastic pad piece that fits over the park button from the inside, in order to keep it in place. This can become loose when you take the cover piece (carbon fiber or aluminum) off. I had to play with this to get the right fit back, but when I did finally put the Carbon Fiber piece on... It was slightly loose and did not fully cover the bottom portion of the gear shifter. To be more clear; I was able to see the screw inside the gear shifter when looking at it from the side. Now... I am not sure if all of them fit like this... but I was very disappointed. Even when I screwed the torx screw pretty tight, I was still able to move the Carbon Fiber around on the bottom portion. It did not have the precise curve fitment like the aluminum. *The main reason why I bought this in the first place was for the M banding. I actually like how this turned out. A little money lost, but a nice shifter facelift! The Carbon Fiber is going up for sale!

Just installed

Hey Everyone,

Just got my carbon shift plate and gear selector installed tonight. I used a T8 Torx driver for the little screw. I also used this pick tool to pry up the shift plate and to pry off the face of the shift selector. I used a towel over the pick to be safe and not scratch any parts coming off and it worked wonderfully.

Wow urs wore off ? I wonder if you could get that replaced under warranty like people have done with the shortcut touch buttons that crack.

I searched long and hard, no dice. I bought the entire kit and sold the carbon fiber piece.

I did what Scorpio did and it looks perfect especially since I don't have any carbon fiber anywhere on my car.

Hey I have a brand new P button that came with my kit that I don't need. It's for the sport shifter not the standard one. PM me with your address and I can mail it out ASAP.

thank you PhantomF30, received the button and installed it, looks great!

On a side note, I didn't see anyone post the Torx bit size on that tiny screw. Its a T6 torx, you can get these at Home Depot.
