Too low chassi on rear wheel - reason?

I've had a 340i GT before, and i am looking for a new one, and I've found this silver 2020. I don't like the look of how low the chassi lies on the rear wheel axle though on the left side. I've seen it on other GTs as well, but most of them are not that low.

I asked the car seller to check if the spring coil was broken - he returned photos of them being intact (but you couldn't see the bottom of the springs if there was a crack there or something).

Anyway, does anyone know why the chassi sometimes is so low on the rear axle on the GTs? Do I need to worry? Anyhow, I don't like the look of it.

In this particular case it has nothing to do with the ground not being plain, cause I've seen other photos of the car being indoors, and it looks the same

The pictures of the car outdoor is the one I think of buying.
The picture of the car indoor is just a reference of a car where it looks good on the rear wheel.

Agree, it does look low. Also, the front looks low as well, to be honest. What is the mileage on the car?

I've had a similar thing with my 340, where the rears looked low (1 finger gap at the top) and the fronts were much higher (2 fingers) - the car had 32000 km from the first owner. Springs were OEM stock at all 4 corners. I've ended up lowering the fronts only to make the gaps look visually the same. Have put 45000 km on the car since then and no changes to the gaps at the rear (still on OEM rear springs). The car now has 96K kms and still looks the same as the day I had put in the front lowering springs.

In winter:

I would at least inspect the rear suspension or bring the car to reputable mechanic for inspection to see if there is anything that is out of norm: shocks blown, aftermarket shocks, are the springs actually OEM or aftermarket... Worst case - the owner used to overload the car for extended periods of time and springs have fatigued and now require replacement.

The car has or had no hitch, right?

Agree. That would be the right thing to do.

It has the electric hitch, so it could be that they have towed something heavy a lot of mileage - who knows.

There is a standard difference in ride height between Xdrive and Sdrive even if both are M Sport trim. Could this explain the difference you're seeing?

Unless its a sports utility/truck... and even then I'd be wondering what they've been pulling and what the effect is on the engine / drive chain etc.

Right! However, mine is XDrive and is supposed to be sitting 10 mm higher than SDrive (RWD) car and it is not (at least visually) - there are no SDrive (RWD) F34s in North America to compare in person, period. Curious, if the F34 ever came with Sport suspension in European market... that would put it down additional 10mm below the standard RWD suspension (total 20 mm difference from XDrive). Much like it does for F30 cars.

OP never said if he is looking at SDrive or XDrive 340.

jordan7706 They could have towed something that had excessive tongue weight (unbalanced trailer of some kind) pushing down on the hitch...
I'm currently wiring up a stealth hitch to mine using OEM wiring and all appropriate OEM control modules. Eventually will require coding to re-activate built-in functions (rear camera zoom on hitch, deactivation of rear PDC sensors and etc). I wish the cars came to North America with this option.

The suspension is either broken or modified, or both.

I wouldn't rely on photos.
