You can also relieve the pressure on your lower spine by tilting the seat back.
For me very important. I have lumbar support and heated seats, which does help for sure, but tilting the seat back was the best move I made! A vertical seat back for me is an absolute no-no! I had back pain such that restricted my walking to the extent that I had a Blue Badge, and the problem for me was posture. Mainly due to my sitting position in the car. I am now in the main clear of back pain to the extent I now go running 3 x 50 minutes per week, on pavements! Unbelievable for me a few years ago! Try tilting the seat back! |

I have also completed this mod with the single cell lumbar pad. Works great and very eay to do!
Note: When I removed the 2 plastic retaining pins from the bottom of the seat back cover the plastic pins just shattered. I ordered new ones and they are of a different more flexible design - part number 52201964201. However, these come in a minimum order quantity and cost nearly £11. If any one wants some, PM me and we can sort something out. |

I really like the sound of this mod and I'd definitely do it on mine if a wasn't selling it and getting the M3.
But sadly it'll be a no no on my new car as it looks something like this.....

If I do get back ache with those seats, it'll be the cushion behind the back solution - like I have done for the last 7 years of driving BMWs.

inflatable lumbar support with manual ball pump
Hi Everyone, i have bought the corbeau lumbar support pad and am planning to install on a f30 lci, i understand about removing the back panel from seat and sliding the lumbar support behind the wires etc. but i cant figure how the inflation bulb and tube can exit the bottom of the seat when the seat back is reattached. Can anyone shed light on this or put up a pic so i can see how it would work! thanks in advance!

Also from memory, I unclipped the fabric of the seat which allowed the routing of the hose. Although I folded the bag and fed it below the fabric and into the seat back so didn't dismantle the bag. I also used a sheet of plastic between the seat wires and the bag to stop the wires cutting into the bag. I followed the instructions that were posted on Baby bmw, but no pictures seem to be there now.

Strangely, I bought the stuff I needed to do it but haven't got round to fitting it. I seem to have got used to the seat and I don't get any back problems anymore. I will fit it one day!

The top picture are my actual ones that were holding the seat back on and were reusable. The bottom two pictures are the new ones I bought but didn't use. Last edited by sensible; 02-06-2019 at 09:44 AM.. |

I just got a small flat end screwdriver, put it under the head of the pin and pulled the pin out. The pins have a smooth shank so are only held in by friction. Mine came out easily.
Maybe any knife will do, something just to get under the head of the centre pin. Pull the centre pin out first, then the main body of the clip will just pull out. Last edited by sensible; 02-11-2019 at 02:19 PM.. |
