Spotify/Connected App Disconnecting [iPhone8+]
Hi All,
firstly - new owner/poster here, glad to be a part of the community! For those interested i picked up my Mineral Grey 2015 330d M Sport Plus Touring at the weekend after being my first estate and automatic, it's been an absolute dream to drive compared to by Audi A5 Black Edition! I've come across a problem with my Spotify App, in where it keeps disconnecting randomly. I've got the latest ConnectedDrive app, latest iOS and have tried restarting both the phone and the iDrive. I'll plug it in, multimedia shows external devices and then a few seconds later the Spotify app pops up under Apps - i can play some music, do all that good stuff and then randomly (usually 20-30 seconds in) it'll just disconnected from the car. This also seems to disconnect the standard USB connection too. It'll then just reconnect on it's own and carry on. Has anyone else come across this problem and/or have thoughts on what it could be? I'm using a standard iPhone lightning cable into the USB port, which may be problem due to it disconnecting both the Spotify app and External devices (I'm guessing the two go hand-in-hand anyway?). Thanks! |

I get this from time to time, albeit mine just does not play anything rather than actually physically disconnecting. The integration of Spotify and BMW is a joke TBH.
Usually a restart of the iOS app sorts any disconnect issues.

I have a similar problem whereas I plug in my phone and it doesn't recognise Spotify under the 'apps' section in Multimedia.
Spotify will play, but I don't have any of the Library, etc. options. Sometimes it'll kick in after a few minutes, sometimes it won't appear at all. Very frustrating.

Make sure you update the Idrive to latest version. Really easy. Follow online instructions from BMW.

I have the Spotify app on my phone but do not subscribe.
Recently the app was updated. Since then when I plug my phone in (snap in adapter) instead of automatically going to my music, the car brings up Spotify, some kind of default setting maybe? Wonder if there are bugs in the latest Spotify update? Anyhow deleted the app and all is good now! |

Bit of an update - i've updated to the latest .bin file and it does seem more stable however after an apparently indeterminate amount of time i'll get a "Cannot use accessory: only one accessory at a time can be used" message on my phone and then its downhill from there - continuous disconnects until i get tired and just bluetooth the music instead.

Weirdly I had the exact same problem yesterday (2013 car) with my iPhone X. Have force restarted the phone, plugged in using genuine Apple cable, started the Spotify app and it’s all working fine. It was cutting in and out every few seconds yesterday and driving me up the wall. A quick google suggested it’s the phone not the iDrive...try a force restart if you haven’t already.

Update - Same problem, no resolution through various restarts, unplugs, change of cable etc. It appears that it is the 'Unsupported Accessory' message that causes the chain effect. Once you see that appear you can guarantee that within the next 10 minutes it'll disconnect and then continue to do so.
Interestingly the message will only appear the first time, then it'll just disconnect itself. Bluetooth works perfectly. The only reason i use USB is the ability to change albums/playlists without looking at my Phone - Shame it can't be done via Bluetooth for Spotify, as Apple Music is a pile of poo. |

Just got Spotify & have noticed you can't see what the next track is when listening to a playlist on the Idrive, is this normal?

Spotify on mine has been working perfectly up until yesterday, I had no end of issues trying to get it to connect. Loads of fiddling and eventuality got it connected. Normally I just plug the phone into the cable and the Spotify icon appears under Media, but not yesterday.
I'm still running ios10 on an iPhone 7

There are bugs in iOS 11 - Carplay on iPhone X is tricky to reconnect on NBT EVO systems.

Interestingly my Spotify kept disconnecting this morning on my way to work... checked my app store and it had updated 2 days ago.
I normally get in the car, and select the spotify source from the steering wheel controls and it continues from my shuffle (the dont plug the phone in) Suspect the latest update is at fault... but will have to try on the way home from work. (Dont use the car over the w/e) |
