Finally got the y adapter in to power the leds on the LCI trim. I love this mod. Adds such a nicer feel to the interior while driving at night

Torque Pro App and OBD2 Bluetooth Dongle

I bought a cheap bluetooth OBD2 dongle from ebay to try the Torque Pro app.

I must say this app is impressive. Tells you a lot of data such as air intake temps, engine coolant temps, MAF, revs, engine load, fuel level, boost, throttle response and much more

The best thing about it is that the dongle cost 5 bux and the app was free. You really dont have much to lose

Let me know if anyone wants to the seller and type of dongle if they want to try it. I heard some cheap dongle dont work, or dont work as well as others

The only con about the set up is that there is a one sec delay. But I guess this is only important for those that do tracking and really want "real time". Other than that its great and I recommend everyone to get it

Yeah nice one - I've been using Torque for about 6 years I reckon and love plugging it into a new car and getting some data. It's mapping function is good too for when you go for a blast around a track to log data or even over the hills on a weekend cruise.

Real carbon fibre trim

So I have liked the M Performance interior but i haven't loved it because they use the grey raw carbon fibre finish. I wished they went the traditional way and used the black wet carbon fibre finish like the M3/M4's

Then there was the vinyl wrap route. As nice as some of these wraps look and especially with the 3d/4d/5d wraps. They just dont beat real carbon fibre. After trying out my first piece you really can feel the troughs and peaks of the weave and with the light, you really can see it. This will be amplified with the clear coats on top.

So I have decided to overlay my interior with real carbon fibre and finish it off with a number clear coats to get that wet look. I just dont want to use 2 coates like most CF parts but I want to go 4 - 6 and try get a deep wet 3d look. I want to look at this piece and feel like I am looking into a shallow pond

So first thing first i bought my self a spare set of interior trim (hexagonal with blue stripe) because I know this wont be easy and there may be a chance of stuffing this up.

Laid my first carbon fibre piece. From the get go i had some issues but all in all quite happy with the result, but by far not perfect. i haven't put the clear coats yet but will try this out soon. Right now i am just playing with the stuff and doing trial and errors. Ill strip it off and try again until I perfect the method. I think the main key is knowing the characteristics of the resin (cure time, and viscosity of the liquid) and the limits/handling of the weave. I know the biggest hurdle is the thickness if the carbon fibre and clear coats will make fitment an issue, but i think i can work my way around this by grinding back the original parts...we shall see.

Anyway enough of my rambling, here is a pick of the first trial.

I think it does. I got pricing for this ages ago but it was way over the cost of the m performance one.

Handy little gadget and app, although I wouldn't leave the tool plugged in when the car isn't running, it'll stay on and drain the battery.

F80 Lip Spolier

just got my spoiler. It was a tough choice between the m performance one and the M3 but I decided to go with the M3. I wanted something a little more subtle in the end which is also why i painted it white rather than black. Hope you like.
