Annoying tapping/ticking from wheels - no stone stuck
Hi all,
OK its summer and I like having the windows open. However, I have a really annoying tapping/ticking from the wheels on the left hand side (passenger side UK) of the car. I have checked the tyres to make sure there are no stone's stuck in the tread or nails etc.... I know its coming from the wheels/tyres as the tapping increases with speed and then decreases with speed. New brake discs and pads on the car about 4k miles ago - so don't know if could be related to that, as didn't have windows open in British spring ha ha. Anything I am missing as to what may be the culprit? Cheers |

Never got to the bottom of this before I handed the car back, but I had what seems like the same thing... https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1408673

Next step I guess is jack the car up and 'spin' the wheels to see if anything is catching in the brakes. Hope it turns out to be something simple as kind of ruins driving with windows open at anything below 30mph |

Had this constantly, tightened the wheels then stopped for a while.
Reappeared not long after but during turning or hard braking.. Doing my head in at the moment! |

I have the same as well. F33 435d x drive. Stock suspension. I always thought/hoped it is the brake sensor touching the disk. I am very curious to find out what is wrong. I don't have the space to lift up the car myself now but I might do next weekend.
Please keep us updated. It seems like it is a common thing. I found that for me it starts when I take a right turn and it keeps going when I go straight. When I turn left it stops for a bit and then it starts again. Also, only when it is hot outside and I drive year round with the windows open so I would know. Let's get to the bottom of this!! |

i had this noise coming from my rear drivers side, no stone nail ect in the tyre, stripped the rear brakes off expecting to find a stone, nothing, cleaned everything up and boom sound gone! tryed to get rid of what i thought was the stone in the rear disk by going in reverse flat out and have since found that the car is limited to 30mph in reverse haha!

Did you manage to sort it out? Mine comes and goes and I haven't found time to take the wheels off to investigate.
