Found on ebay ... Digital download for auto coding?
Hi Guys
So while im trying to find why I cant code VIM on my 2016 NBT, I came across a few ebay listings. They were for a digital download you put onto a USB stick and then into armrest USB and would auto code in VIM and clear disclaimers etc. How are these made? Sounds to me like someone has scripted together some coding parameters and managed to change it via USB rather than OBD port etc Thanks Steve |

Yes it possible to code via usb but its only limited to the headunit only. Not sure how they are made but they trick the idrive update system to code the headunit.
For coding VIM HU_NBT => VIDEO_HANDBRAKE => nicht_aktiv HU_NBT => VIDEO_FRONT_LOCKED => nicht_aktiv (If Present) HU_NBT => VIDEO_SPEEDLOCK_CONDITION => none (If Present) HU_NBT => SPEEDLOCK_X_KMH_MAX => Werte = FF HU_NBT => SPEEDLOCK_X_KMH_MIN => Werte = FF These are the changes that should be made. Whats the issue in your case? |

The video section doesn't appear when using bimmercode on my android and vgate icar pro reader. I think maybe I will need to look in the expert section of bimmercode and try and find those values and change them. I was just curious as to how they have managed to script something to code via a USB. Very smart. A lot of people have been purchasing them as I guess it's simple and easy for the average person who just wants a couple of options changed. |

I don't mind taking the time to learn it. I'm a technicianby trade and have a curse for wanting to find out how things work and break!
Either way, VIM is not possible on my unit as I have entrynav, just my luck! It's not that big of a deal really, the only issue that gripes me is the song limit. I may be forced to purchase a carplay kit from amazon and use that which would give me a load of new capabilities. But at the minute, it's not really bothering me. |

NBT Evo ID 4 has other (additional) codings. And ID5/6 with coding only possible up to 63kph. For more than 63kph the settings are secret because people make money from it. |
