Angry Car totaled in a hit and run accident. Need Advise

Need some help guys. Just about a week or two ago my bmw 330 2018 was hit by an suv in a hit and run on the highway. Which damaged the car pretty bad. (No airbags deployed) I tried to chase the driver but car wouldn't move.

Partial chassis damage displayed. Wheel bent up and side and hood damage. Im sure control arm and axle damage possible.

Long story short. Insurance ruled it as a total loss (State-farm) which I was pretty surprised by being that only the front left was damaged.

According to their car worth website, my car is work about 32k and that's what they are willing to pay bmw. My payoff quote on bmwusa.com account is around 37k. Car is also leased. had about 12 months left

So Now i will be car less and owing bmw alot of money. Anybody have any words of wisdom or can help me here ?

Not sure my choices or what to do.

Yes, you do NOT have to accept any insurance companies first offer.
-show proof of your lease and whats owed

Most times the insurance carrier and BMW Financial services work it out without you. They would essentially pay of the lease and you walk away with nothing owed or gained. If you put monies down when you leased it have that documentation and I would also push to get your inception charges paid.
Most people don't realize if you don't get into another BMW lease you have to pay a lease termination fee (Usually $350-$450)

Now, if you took GAP insurance all this is a void point. They pay the lease in full and done deal

Thanks alot this will help. I was not offered GAP insurance when I leased this car actually. Nor did I know what it was. I will see about them paying the whole thing off in total. I put about 1500 to 2000 down when I bought the car. Should I be getting insurance to pay inception aswell>? or bmw

I will likely get another bmw because I will need a car and the deals are quite good as of late. 330 2019 loaner or x3 2019 loaner

Call BMW Financial Services, you may have GAP and not even know it....

The inception is paid but the leasee (you) to the leaser (BMW) when you terminate the lease. If it wasn't for the accident you wouldn't have to pay that now. Maybe S.F. will cover it...doesn't hurt to ask.

Try to find out first if you have GAP, if so then head to Manhattan BMW and see my boy Manny A. about a new ride

I believe BMW Financial Svcs automatically includes GAP insurance with all leases. Give them a call and ask. Or just let the insurance company talk directly to BMW - when our leased car was totalled, our insurance company handled everything directly with BMW FS. Although in our case we came out ahead after I initially had the same GAP panic attack as you.

Best of luck and I’m happy you weren’t injured.

Very glad are you OK. The car can be easily replaced. As others mentioned, calling BMW FS to learn about GAP insurance is the first step.

Correct. BMWFS automatically includes GAP coverage on all of their leases. The balance between the insurance payout and the lease payoff will be forgiven by BMWFS.

If your payoff amount is on the BMW website, is your car through BMW Financial Services?

Unless changed, they had Gap insurance on the vehicles they financed.

I'm definetly getting coilovers, but I'm doing the upgraded fuel pump for the e85 later. Actually probably never, but I wanna know if the engine can handle the power above all.

This is one of the reasons why I lease. Leasing company takes the hit not me.
