This is the best I've got so I have no idea how you got such high miles.

Just to note this was from Leeds to North Devon in eco mode all the way, driving on country roads and back again on the motorway.

I think I only got 39 on the way down too stuck at 73 with cruise control...

If you want to know where you are using fuel, keep an eye on the vacuum gauge (mpg meter). Even the slightest additional pressure on the accelerator will see it drop from 40mpg into the 20's. It's hard to drive economically on normal roads but on the motorway, cruise control set to 75mph should easily see it in the 40's on a long trip. I managed 53mpg on one 180 mile trip but the norm is low 40's. Forget ecopro, makes virtually no difference

I've been seeing what the car does and to get 33mpg and up is extremely boring... Long communtes helps, but i do like the fun on the b roads. i'm happy with 30mpg for a tank of mixed driving.

100 mile trip yesterday, 95% motorway i got 44mpg. according to the trip.

Not bad going.

Im getting 39.3mpg from my 420d. As long as i get 25mpg ir more im happy to be honest.

I'd expect the mpg to increase once it has a few more miles on it.

My best was Reading --> Bradford (this was non stop)
Coming back was almost as good but it was actually Bradford --> Leeds during rush hour and then Leeds --> Reading later in the day.

How do you get 3 separate screens on idrive. I have pro screen in a March 2017 335d. I can just split the screen into 2.

Thats good to know. I do plenty of away trips following my local footie team and knowing the 340i can produce figures like that when munching the miles is spot on.

Yeah I agree its pretty poor for a diesel. But it only has 1500 miles on the clock, am running winter tyres and my commute is very start stop... so not great for mpg anyway.

Im happy enough with anything over 25mpg.

Gentle gentle gentle oh the throttle. Read the road ahead, definitely no breaking, oh and max speed around 67 mph. Oh and did I mention being gentle oh the throttle...
Boring as hell but I was curious what was possible over a reasonable distance. FYI
I average around 34-36mpg for most tanks...

You'll find it very good. Easy to get mid 40s on a run and hard to drop it below mid-30s. Urban stuff is where you get hammered a little, especially if falling for the temptation of using the performance. I can see anything from 20 to 30+ mpg on my 6 mile commute and it's pretty much down to me which it is.

On a run though...my last tankful included two trips to Heathrow and back - so 4x100 miles plus plenty of urban stuff in between. The motorway runs were congested and/or not hanging around, so far from ideal. 36.4 mpg and 472 miles over the tankful.

The previous tankful was almost wholly urban and was 24.4mpg.

Very impressive from the 35i, especially the towing result!

41 MPG was the highest i've ever achieved with my 335i on average on motorways i get 38-40mpg on cruise control.

Boggles the mind how some of you guys are getting 40+ with your 40i

The b58 in the 40i is much more efficient than the n55 it replaced so your 41mpg drive in the n55 would prob be closer to 45mpg in the 40i

50 mph sections of roadworks massively skew the numbers.

Plus some are not calibrated very well in the computer and under read or over read consumption.

And... is there a hidden implication in your statement?

My two trip computers
228miles @ 45.1mpg
226miles @ 44.2mpg

The fuel receipt
Cost per litre - £1.257
Fuel used - £48.24l
Cost - 60.64
ODO - 26498
ODO - 26966
Mileage - 468
MPG - 44.1

Clearly I did 14miles extra on that tank than those two journeys

Yeah, I was pretty surprised too. Long motorway journeys with cruise control are the only way I can get near these figures. Around town I'm lucky to make 28mpg.
