Renewing online entertainment subscription

My subscription runs out shortly and I've had the email from BMW saying I can renew up to 2 weeks beforehand (am now in that period).

When I go to the Connected Drive website there is a "Extend Service Now" button but it is greyed out and inactive. I've emailed the help service but no reply.

Anyone else had this problem and did you manage to fix it?

When you log in, do you have a payment method added to your BMW account?
Iv'e got a feeling this is required before you can buy.

Unfortunately that's not the problem.

I spoke to them today and they said that I should leave it until 2 days before renewal despite what their emails and website say. FFS! TBH I don't really believe these people know what they're talking about.

Well credit where credit's due to BMW.

I still couldn't renew online yesterday so spoke to Connected Drive who had previously told me they could do a manual renewal if all else failed. A very helpful chap tried to do it but couldn't make it work. He promised to ring me back after talking to technical and indeed he did so within 5 minutes. He said that because I'd had such problems they had decided to give me a complimentary renewal. Result!

I logged on to Connected Drive this morning and found the service has been extended to 1st January 2022. Triple Result!

You are correct, they spend far too much time deciding if they have been DPML compliant and have all the correct contact details. I have spent hours on the phone re both Online Entertainment and OTA map updates. I did manage to get 1 year free on the entertainment due to a 7!!!! month issue in my previous car. They are always pleasant and professional, just totally clueless. Their standard fix for any connected drive issues is either, update the BMW services or switch it off, wait 10 minutes then back on.
