Extended Warranty - BMW or other?

Being the most popular and active forum, I thought the question was better suited here.

I'm looking at a 2016 F06 640d. 19,000 miles, 1 owner from new with good spec. Its also an AUC and will come with a 12 month warranty.

My question is after this expires, am I best to get extended warranty from BMW or somewhere else?

Just been looking at BMW Warranty quotes, they do:

Comprehensive - £1247, Named Component - £1052 and Driveline - £844.

Any suggestions/experience of which one to go for after the initial 12 months?

Thanks.

Comp covers wear and tear up to 100k.
I had air con short on loom. Dash out and two days in work shop. Eclipsed cost of the warranty in one hit. Then again mines was substantially cheaper than your quote on a 330d.

Ask them to give you 2 years AUC warranty.

Then do yearly BMW warranty until you hit UNDER 60K mileage. Then switch over to monthly.

This is probably the most cost effective way of doing it.

Also, the price you've been quoted will vary dramatically depending onthe level of excess you've gone for - which can be £0, £100, or £250, I seem to recall

Exactly, opting for the excess is a good way of reducing the annual cost.

To answer the original question, the BMW warranty is really the best option. From experience it's generally a no-quibble affair when quoting and nothing to worry in terms about lodging a claim or worrying about whether a 3rd party provider will cover BMW main dealer labour rates etc.
