What is this? Broken harness under engine.
Can anyone help me with what this harness should plug into or what it's called as it needs replacing.
I'm part way through a rebuild project for a 320d that suffered front end and undercarriage damage. As of today the radiator is damaged, charge cooler is missing. All front end trim was damaged/missing (now replaced). I've got an outside temp warning of -40 degrees and I can't locate the outside temp sensor if that helps. This is located under the right hand side of the engine bay. Thanks |

I see a fat red (power?) & brown (ground) wire. Are they part of the underhood jump-start block? It's usually on the right side as you're sitting in the car, unless they did it backwards for UK!. Check the TIS: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f30-320d-lim/
The ambient temp sensor for our US 328iX is under the left side of the car, clipped into a black plastic panel under the car near the fog light.

The hefty red and brown wires in conjunction with the proximity to the steering rack are indications that it’s the ECU for the electromechanical power steering (EPS). The ECU is supposed to be integral to the rack.

The steering rack did take a beating and will need to be replaced, I found this ECU on eBay. I'll have to look closely at my wires but it's most likely a match. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F352440058734 |

The steering ECU is something else. It’s part of the rack. If you’ll be replacing the rack anyway, you’ll just plug these connectors into the new one. |
