I took mine in to the dealer for this a few weeks ago. They replaced a tension spring on the valve itself, lubed up the whole assembly and tightened everything down. Hasn't done it since. The tech seemed pretty familiar with the problem, so that was great

340i w/ MPPSK installed since day one and my car is in to the dealer now being fixed for exhaust valve rattle for the second time. Hopefully this time it doesnt come back but I'm not to optimistic at this point.

Apologies for resurrecting thread.... my MPPSK exhaust has just developed a rattle on the passenger side exit. Only does it on cold startup and it disappears once the engine is warm (so doesn't do it on warm start)
Can't be arsed to take it in, tbh.

Mine sometimes rattles when I put the car in reverse but it's an aftermarket exhaust with straight pipe and dp

I've got exactly the same thing - had on the ramps getting some new front tyres and it's loose in the middle but there's no obvious way to tighten.

So Ive booked my car into Nottingham Sytner on the 18th December for a fix (earliest date!!!).

It's obvious under the car that you can move the exhaust it and it rattles against a metal mount in the centre.

My car only rattles on startup and goes after 30 seconds or so.

Same when I got my AWE exhaust installed. Instead of having them try to rotate pipes and get it to not hit, they removed the cross brace. No more metallic noise on startup and I don't notice any difference in the chassis. It's been 12k miles with no issue.

Ok, so after multiple trips to the dealer for this exhaust rattle issue and bmw even authorized a complete replacement of my MPPSK exhaust and there was still a rattle in sport/sport+ mode we finally figured it out. The cause is the $10 clip in the truck that is rattling (see photos) . After removing this the rattle is gone in all modes and rpms. I suggest you all try that out and see if it helps. Sorry it took me awhile to report back.

I had this on mine, was fine for the first few weeks, then after a long run. Stopped for fuel and when I started, it came up with a loud metallic rattle, enough for people to look around.

It wasn't consistant after that, but it did come back. I took it into BMW under warranty, they initially denied it, then found it, tried a few software updates, but then essentially said it was a quirk or the car and cars rattle.

Because I am about to get the MPPSK I didn't really argue to much.

Quite a few things rattle on my 340i!

Just go valve-less exhaust

And yes, everything rattles. I've put 2" foam through the holes in the shelf behind the rear seats. I've put velcro/felt where the rear view mirror meets the windshield. And now I have the infamous door pin rattle that I'll be rectifying soon. Oh, my driver side sun visor rattles too. Really disappointed with the fit and finish for a $55k+ vehicle.

Bro this actually made a differnce I don’t believe this but I haven’t tried a cold start to see if my exhaust is rattling

My windows creak and rattle at times. There is a BMW lube you apply on the seals, but it only helps for 1-2 weeks and i notice with the weather getting warmer it started again, but during winter not so much.
