Wiped Tuned Mission Performance
Evening folks,
Can someone school me on how to re-load Mission Performances tune back into my car? I had Alex do it directly the initial time. Car came back from repairs after a small collision, and while re-programming the sensors...New Century cleared the tune. I have an Enet, just not the brains to actually reload the tune itself. Ha |

Start the program and Click on Scan. You might have to click on scan few times if the program fails to detect your car. If after few tries you still don’t see the IP address of your car, then you might have to reboot your laptop with eNet cable plugged in to both the car and laptop.
After your vehicle is detected, click on connect and then unlock. Go to DME, Flash, Write Memory. After you see computer information loaded click on continue. · You might have popup saying that coding data needs to be saved. Click OK and wait a second. Next popup will tell you if backup for successful. Click on Continue and then select Stage 2 or Stage 1, depending on what is available If your computer is still on factory flash, it will ask you to perform Unlock. Click YES. Now this is very important. Clicking continue starts the flash process that takes about 10 minutes or so. During this time, you can’t turn of ignition, though it will cycle by itself. When you start the process, make sure to leave the driver door in the same position (if it was open, don’t close it. If its closed, don’t open it). Click on start and wait until process finishes up. After a successful flash, you should get a Pop-Up asking to clear DTC codes. Click Yes to all. After your ignition cycles On and Off, you are done. |

I thought I would add to this thread that the software via BMW was not compatible with my original tune. Alex re-flashed back to the original software on the car. Then re-flashed it back to the Stage 1 software on the car previously.

So I understand, Alex couldn't apply the MP tune to the new version of your ECU, so he set your base back to the original version of your ECU that he had previously written your tune for?

Correct. Tunes (Calibration) is written for specific program of the vehicle. Most of the updates BMW releases only update calibration, but sometimes, BMW does update Bootloader and Program area as well (In most cases that is done to block tuning backdoors). Since we know the 70_140 firmware is the best platform for tuning at this time, the dme was reverted back to that platform and the tune was re-applied. BMW just released 80_150 base firmware that finally addresses the 6mt shift rpm hang issues that some people saw on stock vehicles. We are currently working on fully testing that firmware with our stage 1 and stage 2 tunes and once complete, that will be the base firmware all of our tunes will be running on (that is until some major change, if any, comes around from BMW).

Begs the question - when someone applies a tune - then MP comes up with a new version, should or could that new version be applied?

They’ve been “moving” for months now. It was originally only supposed to take a week or two. No idea what truly happened behind the scenes. That said, I am quite happy with the tune!

ya know...I can't really answer that well my commute is a whopping 10 minutes in the morning, and I'm usually in a bit of a hurry. The car barely heats up to its full operating temp before I shut it off. admittedly, when I've checked...it sits around 17 mpg just city. freeway, on longer hauls, it'll do around 27 mpg. that's being very generous though, and easy on the pedal.

My original tune was on the old BMW firmware but he just re did using the new firmware to try and get rid of the manual box rev hang issue.
